Today I'm here to talk to you about why kittens sometimes bring us dead pets at home. Cats, despite their cuddly and charming appearance, are natural hunters. Look at Zassen. Isn't he cute? He really is a killing machine, isn't he, little one? He's very dangerous. Cats have a strong hunting instinct that has nothing to do with hunger. Despite being well fed, they love to hunt and even play with their dying prey. Something that, from a human point of view, might seem cruel, but for them, it's something natural. My kittens go crazy on summer nights chasing moths. It's one of the activities they enjoy the most because it gives free rein to their essence. For this reason, in my opinion, we shouldn't scold a cat for hunting because we would be going against its instinct. Sometimes the idyllic image we have of our feline clashes with what it really is. And whether we like it or not, our kitty is a predator. Zassin was born to hunt. Considering all this, when our kitten brings us a dead animal, it is showing us affection and bonding. It considers us part of its group in nature. Adult felines usually bring dying prey to their kittens so that the little ones learn to hunt. How are we going to scold it then? We would be scolding it for giving us something that is very valuable to them, the prey that they have just hunted. And in my opinion, this could be harmful. Therefore, in order to live happily with our cat, we must start by understanding its instincts and respecting its nature. A cat is not a small child with hair that meows, nor is it like a dog. A cat is a feline, and felines are super hunters. When my cats bring me a dead animal, I reward them effusively with affection and treats that they love. This strengthens our relationship. In my opinion, we shouldn't cut off this instinct, but rather it would be more productive to channel it by offering them other alternatives, such as hunting games with the help of cat toys like this one. I play with my cats for a few minutes every day and they love it. This way I satisfy their hunting needs and we have a great time together.
