Qué debes hacer si tu perro muerde o tira la correa

This is a YouTube video titled "Qué debes hacer si tu perro muerde o tira la correa" featuring Natalia, a dog trainer at the CAC in Barcelona, explaining techniques to stop dogs from pulling and biting the leash. The content is instructional and focuses on dog training methods, recorded in 2016.
Hi, I'm Natalia, the dog trainer at the CAC in Barcelona, and she's Dulce, a 23 year old dog who just joined the CAC. We're going to talk about how to stop our dog from pulling on the leash and biting it. Dogs pull on the leash mainly because we tend to think that the best option is to keep them close to our side. So, of course, a kind of fight is created between the dog who needs to get to a place to smell, and us who want them to come to our side. So with the dog always being together, the dog needs to pull to get to the smell. The ideal is to keep the leash as loose as possible so that the dog can smell where it wants to smell without making us fly away, obviously. But if we encourage our dog's alpha behavior, that will naturally stop the dog from pulling. Another thing to do if that doesn't work is to just stand still. Okay. When the dog pulls on the leash, stop him. The moment the dog turns to look, make him come here and give him a treat at our side and continue walking. Another thing that could help us a lot so that the dog does not pull is a special harness called Easy Wall. Okay. The harness is where the leash is attached to the chest and when the dog pulls, his body turns. So what makes the dog stop pulling as a harness so that the dog learns not to pull. The issue of biting the leash, ah, is usually a demand from the dog. Okay. So when the dog bites us on the leash automatically or as a way of commanding play, we automatically have to loosen it so that he does not see that there is an interaction with what he is doing. And the moment he lets go, because we loosen it, we reward him. Okay. It is a state of excitability that causes the dog to grab the leash to get into action with us. So the ideal thing is to let go, that is release the leash, because if we can't let go, loosen it. And the moment he lets go, reward him. Thank you and see you next time.
