How can we help these patients? Not all of them will need treatment. When they do need treatment, what treatment can we offer? In the vast majority of cases, a diet. These are the typical diets called kidney renal support. On the other hand, when we have patients with the digestive clinical signs that we mentioned earlier, we can give treatment to inhibit nausea and vomiting so that they feel better and even appetite stimulants. Finally, we try to keep these animals as hydrated as possible. How do we achieve this? We can use several strategies, such as, for example, drinking fountains with circulating water. We also have flavored waters or even commercial products that basically add protein. This makes it more palatable, which encourages the cat to drink more and stay more hydrated over time. We can also mix dry food with wet food because the latter contains a much higher percentage of moisture than dry food.
