¿Tu gato te despierta de noche?

Carlos, a clinical veterinarian, explains why cats wake you at night and how to stop it. Cats are naturally nocturnal and hunt when you sleep. Simple changes to their routine and playtime can fix the problem.
There are some cats that wake you up just to get your attention and have you put that little can of food they like so much. If this happens to you, never ever. Hi, I'm Carlos, a clinical veterinarian at Small Animals. Welcome to the Happy Pets and Families Channel. To many of us, cats seem like adorable creatures, those warm little balls of fur that curl up in the sun during the day. But if you've ever had a cat, you've probably experienced that at night, when a certain time comes, they act as if they have an infernal possession, wanting to hunt everything. Your hands, your feet, or whatever comes their way. And you're in bed, I wonder, or relaxing on the couch, and it happens to be at night. It also happens to you when you're lying on the couch, for example. But you don't blame your cat. That depends on their genes, on their most basic instincts. Oh, I got lost. Cats are animals that have nocturnal habits because of their common ancestors. For example, with lions or panthers, these animals hunted at night because it was easier for them to stalk their prey and eat it. Logically, in our house, they no longer have to hunt to eat, because they always have a loyal human who fills their plate. But that means they don't hunt wrong. Your cat's hunting instinct is still awakened. You only have to see how it stalks your toys or the mop when you're washing the floor or your legs from behind a curtain. It hides because it stalks you and jumps. Oh, doctor, he was watching me from behind a curtain once. Maybe he was calculating to kill you. Your cat is still an almost infallible weapon when it comes to hunting. And at night, after a long day, when you want to relax on the couch, that can be a problem. That's why in this video, I'm going to give you some tips to get along better with your cat and to prevent it from becoming your worst nightmare when it wakes you up at night. Keep your cat entertained all day long. If you want to do this, you have to distribute scratching posts, toys, or activity feeders around your house. What is an activity feeder? These are feeders that cats have to hit in order for the food to come out. So the cat has to move a little in order to eat and so that it can get some exercise in any corner of the house and thus use up some of its energy for when night comes. But remember that even if you have its toys scattered throughout the house, you have to play with it because that will encourage it to use them more. But play with it during the day because if you do it at night, you can achieve the complete opposite effect, making it much more active. And when you decide that the party is over, it still wants more. But we all have obligations that mean we spend a lot of time away from home. If this is your case, try putting a bed for your cat near a window with a view of the street. That way it will be entertained watching what is happening outside. Another option is that your cat wakes you up asking for food during the night. To prevent this, what you can do is leave his food bowl full so that he has a full belly all night, and that way he doesn't wake you up. But be careful. There are some cats that wake you up just to get your attention and for you to give him that little can that he likes so much. The idea that cats are elusive, shy and independent is well established, but that's not true because most cats like to be touched by your hand. And what better way to do that than for you to give him a little bit of food and pet him in the middle of the night. If this happens to you, you should never, ever, ever get up to feed your cat. If you get up and feed him, he will perceive it as a reward for getting your attention, and therefore he will repeat it over and over and over again. So don't do it. If your cat is a bit of a glutton and wants to eat at night, you can look for a little extra help in the form of feeders that can be programmed to open throughout the night so that he always has something to entertain him with and food on his plate. Finally, if none of this works, close the door to your room, living room, or wherever you are. I know this is a drastic solution, but this way you will physically prevent your cat from hunting your feet or hands. And when all else fails, you have to take these types of solutions. In this step, I have to warn you that your cat is not going to get used to it from the first day and that at first he may try to scratch the door or scratch to get to where you are. Let your cat get used to it. It is a process that will take quite a while, so you don't have to despair. And whatever door they give him, and whatever doors they give him, no man, he doesn't do it like that. But he does it so that you will open it for him. But it doesn't knock. It doesn't knock, knock. Finally, if you can't figure out why your cat is meowing, you should probably see your vet, because there could be some kind of physical condition that's causing them to wake you up at night. Like cats that are in heat who start desperately calling out to the females that are around the neighborhood. They try to wake you up and they also meow and get nervous and they make you nervous. Cats meow not only because they are in heat, but they could also have something that hurts them or some other type of illness. And they are trying to tell you with their meowing and feeling a little uncomfortable that something is wrong with them. You could be misinterpreting it. You could be thinking that they are trying to catch your hands and that what they are really doing is trying to get your attention. Well, I'm gonna give you one more piece of advice that I'm going to give you as a bonus track. Some cats can get a little lonely with their human companions, so a little feline company can come in handy. And if you can afford it, due to time, money, and space, you could consider adopting another cat to keep your feline companion company. That way, they'll entertain each other and be more active during the day, and they'll also be able to play with each other at night without having to wake you up. Do they make noise?
They.
They don't usually make much noise. Well, they run and make noise. It's like living in a house haunted by cats. Oh, and remember that these tips are for if they're trying to wake you up at night. If they're waking you up in the morning, it means you need to leave your laziness and the sheets behind because their biological clock is clearly better than any alarm clock and breakfast time is sacred. Well, for your sake, you have to go to work. And that's it for today's video. If you liked it, give it a like and share it with your family and friends. What? A bee.
I can't see it.
It's licking the nectar from that flower.
Where?
There. I'm not making this up. Look at her. Look at her. Look at her. Go, beautiful, go.
She's eating. Of course she's eating. She's getting the hang of these little flowers. It's not for you. Don't hear the noise, because otherwise I won't be able to laugh.
Get out. Get out. Get out. Don't come. Don't come. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Thanks, Carlos, for this fake tape. That one hasn't been seen. I'm really scared of bees.
It's over there and gone. Go, go, beautiful, go. Go to your hive. Damn. That's impossible.
It wasn't a bee. A wasp.
That was a bee. It was a wasp. It's gone now, right? Subscribe to our channel if you haven't already, and hit the bell. So YouTube will notify you when we upload a new video. The Fly. What?
