Hello and welcome to Animal Expert. In today's video, we'll be talking about the Yorkside Terrier. The Yorkie first appeared in the 19th century when a small, easy to maintain breed of terrier began to be developed for hunting rats among the lower classes. It wasn't until 1860 that it was officially introduced to various canine federations. Later, the British bourgeoisie found the Yorkside Terrier a sweet and beautiful companion dog and began to stop using it for hunting rodents. The Yorkside Terrier is a small dog that reaches a maximum weight of 3.2 kilogram. It stands out for its moderately long, very smooth and shiny coat. The coat is black, tan, blue and dark steel. As a curiosity, we should add that it is a perfect dog for people with allergies as its coat is hypoallergenic and generally does not cause bad reactions. The Yorkside Terrier is a dog suitable for any type of family and perfect for those who have not had a dog before. This is a very affectionate and sweet dog that loves to be close to its loved ones at all times. Its alert attitude, despite its small size, can surprise us. The Yorkie is an excellent watchdog inside the home. Precisely for this reason, it can become a very barking dog. If this is something we do not want, we simply should not reinforce this behavior. Finally, it is worth mentioning that this is an intelligent dog that will easily learn what we teach it. To take good care of a Yorkie, it is essential to comb it frequently between two and three times a week. This will be enough to avoid knots, tangles and dirt on a daily basis. It is useful to pay attention to facial hygiene and remove food remains, eye boogers and dirt. On the other hand, it is important to bathe it every 15 to 30 days. The frequency of bathing will directly depend on the dog, since some get dirty more easily than others. Let's not forget that we must protect it from the cold and due to its small size, the Yorkie is susceptible to shaking. With a piece of dog clothing, we will have more than enough for the cold weather. Yorkshire training begins with the socialization process, which involves introducing our dog to its environment. It is very important that it learns to get to know other people, dogs, vehicles and objects of all kinds so that it does not develop fears, phobias or aggression. In its adult stage. We will always try to make all encounters positive. After its socialization stage, the Yorkie should begin training, learning basic obedience commands such as sit, stay and come here. This will help us to have good communication with it and to make it safe if we take it off the leash. Finally, we recommend motivating our dog and enriching its day to day life with a variety of toys, intelligence games or outdoor activities. Everything we do with it will make it very happy. Remember, the most common illnesses of the Yorkside Terrier are patellar luxation, spinal problems or congenital hydrocephalus. To detect any of these problems as soon as possible, it will be very useful to visit the vet every six months. On the other hand, we must correctly follow their vaccination and deworming schedule. If you follow our advice, your terrier will live between 15 and 18 years happily by your side. And that's it for our video. If you liked it, give it a like and don't miss other dog breeds that we have on our channel. See you soon.
