What's going on everyone? Welcome to the Rise of Young podcast. Today on episode 13, we got Carlos Chara here and we're going to be talking about the power of cold showers. So Carlos, to start off this podcast, I want to tell the people, number one, how long have you been taking cold showers?
For about the past three months. Continuously, Every single day.
Okay, that's a start. Yeah, because I know on your Instagram story I hit you up and you were posting all the time about, dude, cold showers will change your life. So I went ahead and did it and I've been doing it for about a month now and it's absolutely changed my life. So for the people listening, man, number one, a lot of people ask me, so what do cold showers do? Like what are the health benefits that you've researched that you've found out about that has helped you with?
Alright, so really, dude, there's so many benefits of taking cold showers. I could tell you all the ins and outs, but just to tell you a couple, like, it improves your emotional resilience.
Right?
So meaning if you're ever feeling like angry or like pissed off, it keeps you cool naturally. Just because it is a cold shower and throughout the day you're still going to feel that energy and if anything ever happens that's like going bad, you just stay cooler naturally. Right? Because you took that cold shower and then another health benefit is, I mean it's not so big, but it keeps your skin and hair healthy compared to hot showers. Right. But really the for me in general, right, Like I said, there's so many benefits, but the re, I guess the greatest benefit, I'm sure you could agree it increases your energy, right? It increases your energy and well being. It's Hell of a confidence booster. It wakes you the hell up, especially if you do it in the mornings, which when you should be doing. That's when I do it. Right. And really it's. It's creating a whole different lifestyle because it's really telling you that you're a unique individual, right. Compared to most people, right. Who you might think, like, as mediocre or something. They're taking hot showers. Cool. What makes you different? And it's really on the small things. So really that's why I've been taking cold showers and really changed my life, because it creates that. It just cancels those limiting beliefs in your mind. So it really creates that power within yourself in your mind. So that's the reason why I've been doing cold showers in that why I'm sure you've been doing cold showers as well.
Definitely, man. I totally agree with you, man. Like, whenever I started doing, I'm like, especially in the morning, it wakes you the hell up real quick. So for other people listening, what. When it comes to taking the cold shower, what is the recommended based on what you've been able to do for the last three months, how long do you usually take them? Because I remember I talked to one person, he's like, dude, I was doing it for 45 seconds. I can't do it. And then other people are like, yo, I'm doing it for like 5, 10 minutes. So what do you usually do that's been able to be effective on your end?
So typically a normal hour I usually take it's anywhere from three to five minutes, right? Sometimes it's two, but really on average it's within three to five minutes. And really, like, it doesn't matter how long you take the cold shower. I've just tend to do it for three to five minutes. So.
Yep. Yeah. Okay. Cool, cool, cool. And then I also get. I remember when I started posting on my story about cold showers, a lot of people started hitting me up like, dude, like, how do you break that mental barrier? So my question to you, Carlos, is when people are saying, oh my God, like they want to do it, but they just can't break that barrier, how are you able to fight that mental barrier that people may fall victim to?
Okay, so literally I go back to thinking, like, for ancient times, right? Like, this literally started like from the ancient Greeks to the ancient Romans, the ancient Russians, they didn't have like, heat, right? They had a freaking river or a stream and it was in the freezing cold, right? So if you go back to like ancient History, you think, like, okay, wow, how'd they do it? Right? So if you really want to create that breakthrough, I guess through, like, if you're deciding whether or not you should take a cold shower, really, it's all on the mind. So really take control of your breathing. Because if you feel like the cold water is hitting you and really, like, killing you, it's not. It's on the mind. So really, it's not that cold shower that's making you freak out. It's your mind. So I guess once you control your mind, you'll be able to, like, control anything.
Okay, I agree with you, man. I know whenever I. Before my shower, you have to just commit mentally way before you actually hop in. You know, you have to, like, tell yourself, like, I'm not just gonna wait 10 minutes and push it off, and push it off. Because especially for me, it's like, before I'm about to go, even go to the shower, I'm like, all right, I'm gonna take a cold shower. I mentally commit, and then I already know what's about to happen beforehand, you know?
Exactly. And another thing, like, what I used to do, I used to always go. I heard this from. From Tom. I don't know his last name, but he created MySpace, right? MySpace. Tom. He. He says when. Whether it's weightlifting, whether it's taking cold showers, whether it's doing whatever, right? Instead of doing a, like, counting, 1, 2, 3, go, always tell yourself, 3, 2, 1, go, right? Cause I guess it creates this psychological thing in your mind that makes you actually take action without thinking, right? But another thing, like, more recently, because I used to always get, like, pumped up and, like, breathe super fast when I would go in, but now it's like I said, it's about controlling your mind. It's controlling your breathing. Because when you control your breathing, you're controlling your mind, and therefore, you're not really feeling the cold water, and you're just taking control of thyself, right? So it's really owning. Owning. Owning your body.
Yep, for sure, man. So the next question for you, when it comes to, like, taking the actual cold shower, what would be the top three benefits that you've been able to see in your life, whether it comes to energy, whatever it may be, what are the top three things that have benefited you that if you've actually seen changes when taking cold showers nowadays?
Yeah, so I guess it's. Well, for one, it's an hell of an energy booster, right? When I wake up, I don't go straight into the shower, Right. I tend to go to the gym, workout. Right. And then come back right after. So I guess number one is the energy booster because throughout the entire day, once you take that cold shower, you're going to feel energized for the entire day compared to other people who might feel lazy. Right. Whether it's you got like a little bit lack of sleep, you just feel energized, right. Probably. Benefit number two is just your mental barrier, right? Of feeling unique. Like if, if you tell yourself, if you have like a really shitty day and you say like, wow, everything went wrong. Like, like nothing was good, you could tell yourself, like, wait, I was different today. I took a cold shower. Not a lot of people did that. Therefore I'm. It increases your day substantially, right?
Yeah.
I guess benefit number three is, to be honest, being able to encourage others to do it because it's a life changing breakthrough. Like when I, when I started doing it, other people hit me up, like, especially you and other game changers. Right. So it's, I guess, encouraging others to be different and to really. Because I guess that's what entrepreneurship is all about, right? Being different and being unique and standing out. Right. So I guess encouraging others to be different and creating that mentality of being awesome.
Yeah, yeah, for sure. I think definitely when it comes to like my purpose or even taking cold showers, I love when you said when it comes to breaking mental barriers, because I like to look at it from like big scale and it's like, if you can, like, especially for me, it's like sometimes I just don't want to take a cold shower, but I still do it. And just breaking that mental barrier of saying, like, I don't want to do this, but I'm gonna force myself mentally to just transition and break that mental barrier. And it was funny one time when I was in Las Vegas, there was this building and it was like this very. It was on the stratosphere. There was like this very tall roller coaster ride. And like, I did not want to do it, but it just comes down to like, I was able to break my mental barrier and just I was like, yo, fuck it, I'm gonna do it. And like, I think it's the same concept as in, like, it helps you put your different perspectives in different situations when it comes to breaking mental barriers. So I think that's just like the small scale of like planting the seed when it comes to breaking mental barriers in life overall, you know?
Yeah, definitely. Because it comes back to this quote, really how you do anything is how you do everything right, and it starts with the little things. It could be a cold shower, it could be working out, it could be whatever, making your bed right. It could be anything. But this is just a success habit that I found extremely helpful in my life and I'm sure in other people's lives as well. So it's incredible what. What a cold shower could do. If you want to change your life, Take a cold shower, guys.
Boom. I love it. I love it. So that being said, Carlos, real quick, where can people find you to know more information and to start hitting you up about them taking action on cold showers?
Yeah, sweet. So you guys can hit me up on Instagram. That's where I'm most active. It's Carlos, Char one. That's where I'm most active. You guys have any questions, feel free to just hit me up.
