What's going on everyone? Casey Adams here. Welcome to the Rise of the Young podcast. Today, episode 27. We're gonna be talking about first impressions. And I hear all the time just people saying like, what do first impressions mean to you? Are they valuable? Should you focus on them? And yes, I'm gonna be talking about why first impressions matter with your personal brand as well as in real life connections. So number one, before I really dive into it, you gotta think about this guys. First impressions are crucial to everyday networking. Whether it be with teachers, whether it be with associates, business partners, parents, whatever it may be. If you're meeting people, your first impressions dictates how people respond to you, how people think about you, how people think you are as an individual. And you really got to start focusing on your first impression to people because whenever you're at networking events or even social media, we'll be going over first impressions on branding as well. But whenever you meet someone, you have to think as about your first impression as something crucial to building relationships. Number one, it's what people instantly think about you. Whether it be the emotions you are conveying to them, whether it be your tone of voice, whether that be your posture, your eye contact, whatever it may be. First impressions are very, very valuable, especially if you're networking with people because it allows you to portray yourself in the most authentic way and you make sure you be on your A game whenever you're meeting somebody new because that is how your first impressions will help you. Number two, after you have the first impression and the number one Thing that they're going to think about you is it's going to plant a see in their mind about you when you first come in contact with them, that will instantly be how they justify you and talk about you. Due to the fact that your first impression was very, very well, and I have something in the works for you guys that I'll be talking more about on January 13, that I've been positioning something very, very well regarding a first impression that I will be covering very, very soon. But like I said, having first impressions is very good, having good ones with people, because overall it's just going to be how people perceive you. So when it comes to first impressions, like I said, people don't forget it. You must be mindful of the first impression that you're leaving on people, because we all know the people that you meet in everyday life, the people you meet on social media, you come up with a conclusion of who they are, what their thoughts are, who they are as a person due to their Instagram profile or due to the fact that you've talked to them on the phone one time, you have to focus on making your first impression with people very, very solid because that is how people will remember you. So regarding first impressions, there's two very distinctive avenues that I want to talk about with first impressions. Number one, we just kind of covered regarding in person relationships. Every time I'm at a networking event, focus on your first impression. Take notes right now. If you're not focusing on how you can convey yourself in the most genuine, authentic way, every time you meet someone new, people are gonna feel very, very low about who you are, what you do, and anything else regarding that. But another main avenue I want to cover is your first impression on social media. And this goes over branding, this goes over positioning, but overall, it's the first impression of people on your profile. So number one, when it comes to first impressions, and I know that we can all agree when you go to someone's Instagram profile, you instantly see their profile picture. And the thing about profile pictures on Instagram is that they very, very matter. It matters to how people are looking at your profile, it matters to how it makes people feel. The colors matter, everything matters. And if you aren't having a very high quality, you can see yourself profile picture, it's not gonna leave the best first impression on people. So in regards of just having, if you want to have a first impression on people that knows that who you are when what you look like, in a sense, that's the best way to start Leaving a better first impression on people is just making a very good profile picture of you, crystal clear. You can see you and all that fun stuff. But the next thing regarding first impressions and positioning on social media, especially Instagram right now is the Instagram bio. See, the thing about a bio on Instagram, it's funny because a lot of people take it easily, A lot of people don't think about it. But the three to four sentences or the whatever amount of words that you can fit in the Instagram bio, that is how people understand who you are, due to the fact about how you present yourself using words. Because the thing about Instagram, it allows you to see someone for the videos, for the pictures, for the caption, for their bio and for the profile picture. You have to make sure that everything regarding those things I just covered aligns in the most authentic way and especially the bio. So, for example, right now, if people are following me that are new, I want them to know that I have a top 25 business podcast and I want them to check it out because I'm doing a campaign on my podcast. So in my bio it says top 25 business podcasts. Click the link below link, right? So that's how I want people to portray me right now. That's how I want people to perceive me and really think about me as the guy that has a top 25 podcast, because that's what I'm promoting right now. Okay? And it really, in regards of actually building a good first impression on Instagram, your bio is somewhere where you can literally just unleash who you are, what you do in the matter of two sentences. And it's pretty much like a 60 second pitch tank, if you would call it. People instantly perceive you and say, hey, I want to follow you, or hey, this is not the type of person I'm going to follow within 15 seconds of coming onto your profile. So if you can kind of align yourself in an authentic way, have a good bio, have a good profile picture, and then of course, the content is what really matters. But before you even think about putting the right content out there, have a good profile picture, have good bio on Instagram, because once you create a good bio, you have a good picture, then they're already hooked in and they're ready to check out your content. But if you have a black bubble for a caption or a black, just like a random color or no profile picture at all, people are less likely to follow you on Instagram and that leaves a bad impression on you. So when it comes to the bio, make sure that you're aligning yourself properly, have your name in your bio, have what you do, whatever it may be, because that is how you're gonna best leave a good first impression on people. So that being said, a little more things that we're gonna be covering is your captions and the content, of course. So whenever you're putting out content on Instagram especially, you gotta think about how it makes people feel. And regards to the content I post on my social media, I post about me traveling, I post about just the people I network with, I post about young entrepreneurship, I talk about things in my captions regarding branding and marketing or just what I'm doing overall. And I do that for a purpose. A lot of people don't see the nitty gritty stuff on my Instagram, but it's because I want to brand myself as a traveler, as someone that's making moves but still has the suspicious to post pictures and not tell everything about it, you know? So it comes down to the way you want to brand yourself. And for me right now, it's just very, very particular about how I want to portray myself to my audience. And the same for you, because yes, you must do it in an authentic way. But it all comes down to as soon as people come to your Instagram page, what do they think about you? What do they think you do? How does it make them feel? And even asking your friends about what they think about your Instagram profile, if they didn't know you, what would they think you do? What kind of person would they think you are? Because it just, it really matters on the way you're positioning yourself, like I said. And if you have any in depth questions, definitely send me a DM on Instagram aceadams1. It's the verified profile. But regarding that, just be very particular on the content you put out. Focus on how it's gonna make people feel for the first time coming across your page. Because I see a lot of people that are focusing on growing their Instagram pages, but they're putting out content daily. But it has nothing to do with they actually want to brand themselves as. And the thing about branding is that you have full control. Instagram is a platform where you have completely, absolutely full control of the content you put out, of the perception you build in the most authentic way of how you're going to make people feel about your content. You get to literally build your brand. So, so, so clearly due to the fact that you have the power, because social media is like that nowadays, you have the power to put your bio a certain way, post a certain picture, post a certain video, talk about a certain thing, go live at a certain time. You have your own just media network that over time, once you convey your message in the most authentic way consistently, that's how you build a social profile. The thing about social media is don't focus on the numbers at first. Focus on the content and the brand you're going to build long term. So that being said, also post Instagram stories, post video content of you consistently so people can instantly feel the connection between their screen and your screen. Because that's how you got to really look at it, guys. The people that are watching you and following you are looking at you through a screen and you have to dictate what goes out into your media outlet known as your Instagram profile or your content you're posting. Be very, very particular about how you think it's going to affect people and, and then overall on Instagram, you can now poll people. So ask people what they would rather see from your content and make sure that you're starting to position yourself so that when new people start following you, they have a clear understanding of what you do, who you are, and overall how you add value to the world with your profile. Okay, and this is just a blanket statement that I'm just gonna put out there. This is so important for personal branding because you have to constantly remember that people judge to follow you based on your first impression. And that's not a bad thing. You just got to understand that there's hundreds and millions of Instagram accounts. So for people to click on your account and follow you, they tend to spend about 10 to 15 seconds determining am I gonna follow this person or not. So if you build up that curiosity, you build that good personal brand, you build up that good first impression, that's how you're gonna gain new followers. It's not a crazy tactic. It's not something crazy. Yes, there is different tactics regarding growth, but a simple formula to grow your page is to focus on first impressions. Make sure you focus on how you're going to make people feel when they go to your profile. And overall, once you start focusing on that, that's the winning formula. Number one, have a compelling bio. Make sure it explains what you do or what you want people to know about you. Number two, have a compelling profile picture. Make sure people can see you. But if not, if you want to make it more low key, that's totally up to you. But overall, based on my experience from personal branding, and the way I've been able to brand myself is definitely just having a professional profile picture, something that explains what you do, who you are and anything like that. And then this is a core tactic that I use. And this is my buddy, Jet Set Fly Josh King Madrid talks about think backwards. And what I mean by think backwards is that think about how you're positioning yourself as people come across your page and then always focus on how your content is gonna make them feel on their first impression of you. And if you can think about it from the other side of things, from the consumer of your content versus you as the producer, that's how you can literally crush it so much faster because you have that tunnel vision effect of how people are perceiving it as well as how you're authentically putting it out there. So that being said, that's just a little rant about first impressions. I know a lot of people listening right now, they are going to have a lot of ideas about what they want to do with their personal brand, how they want to position their bio, they're going to do a lot of research on other people. But the key ingredient is how you as an individual right now listening, are going to take this information and apply it. See, you could be listening to my 10th podcast in a row right now, but if you're not listening and applying, listening and applying and doing that consistently, the podcast isn't going to help you. But that being said, same vice versa, if you listen to all my podcast episodes straight, you are going to be jam packed with so much value. But if you actually execute it, that's when you're going to see major life improvements, especially once you add in consistency and repetition. And that's just something. Honestly, as a young entrepreneur myself, I'm 17 years old and just regarding entrepreneurship in general, taking risks and making it happen, execution is the fucking game. And excuse my language, but that's just how it is. Like if you really want to execute and make stuff happen, don't just listen to podcasts and read books, don't just watch a YouTube video and take a note, actually start executing on your reality. Don't just sit there in your chair right now or in your car right now thinking about how this can help you start implementing it. And then you will start to see how it's been helping you. Let me say that again, instead of thinking about how it's going to help you execute and watch how it's going to start helping you. Because like I talked about today on one of my last podcasts with my buddy Eamon. He talks about the power of execution and testing. And if you're listening right now and you want to test a bio for a week, you want to test a profile picture, you want to test the content you put out, do it. That's the thing. People aren't testing enough. People are not taking the risk. People are not associating themselves with someone and who is a risk taker. And if that's you, congratulations. Go take risks, go experiment with different tactics with your personal brand on social media, because that's how you're going to win. Honestly, straight up, that's how you're going to win. It's not about putting out the perfect picture at the perfect time, at the perfect moment, and then boom, a million likes in a day. You're tripping if you think it's going to be like that. You have to focus on daily execution, daily action, daily intake of content, and just overall producing content. See, the thing about my mentor, Tai Lopez, he always talks about just when he dies, he wants his gravestone to say mad scientist. And mad scientist, as in every day when he wakes up, he's experimenting rapidly all day, every day, whether it be a fitness product, whether that be something in the gym, whether it be something he's eating that makes him feel more productive. He had a rant the other day on his podcast about what computer works better. He tests mouses, he tests phone cases, he tests different computers. Everything he tests in his life. And that's how he's able to figure out how we can construct his life to work the best. So I know I've been going on a little rant right now regarding branding, social media marketing. But remember, the core aspect of this podcast is first impressions. Everything you do, from networking on social media, to building a relationship in person, to creating your brand, everything has a first impression. And if you start thinking about it very, very particularly I talked about in this podcast, you will win. First impressions matter. That's the end goal of this podcast. If you don't think they matter, listen to this podcast again. Listen to it three times, send it to a friend, let them know what they think about it. Just remember, first impressions do matter. Start executing on building a good first impression on social media because that's how you're going to win. And then, that being said, everybody, I hope you found some gems inside of this podcast. And if you have not already listened to the past around five or six interviews with just a lot of amazing people, make sure you go back, listen to them. We got my boy cade Spizer from Team 10 on My buddy, Tyler Harris. Tanner Fox. Amazing people have came on the Rise of the Young podcast already and we're only two weeks in and I would appreciate it if you could send me a DM on Instagram saying, yo, I came from the podcast. Let me know if you what you want me to post about, Let me know what you want me to talk about and I will make sure I cover it. Because remember guys, I'm putting out content on this podcast, not for me, but for you. So if you have any questions, anything you want me to talk about, anyone you want me to interview, let me know on the Instagram dms aceadams1 and that being said, make sure you subscribe, make sure you download all of these podcast episodes. It will help me and I will continue to to help you. So that being said, I will see you guys on the next episode. Have a good day.
