This is the Rise of the Young Podcast bringing you insights from the most innovative entrepreneurs and influencers of this era. Hosted by 17 year old entrepreneur, author, public speaker and branding expert Casey Adams. Now let's get right into the show.
Yo, what up everyone. Casey Adams here. Welcome to episode 39 of the Rise of the Young podcast. Today I really want to talk about action and really execution. Something that you must focus on if you want to start getting results in your life, in your business and much, much more. Because I really think a lot of people really get caught up in the mindset of wanting to do more but not actually doing more ahead. It might sound cliche, but a lot of people get caught up in the over analysis of paralysis mindset and I really want to help you out today and give you some insights about how I execute and how I take action on things and hopefully this helps. So therefore I just want to start out with an example because I feel like that's the best way I learned and I hope it is a great way that you can really understand where I'm coming from. So it's been about it's been about a month since I started my podcast. Shout out to everyone that's been listening, staying focused, keep on listening please. But like I said, it's been about a month. I started my podcast December 27, 2017. Currently it's January 29, 2018. So it's been about a month and a few days since I started and this is literally the 39th episode. And that may seem like a lot then that may not seem like a lot to you, but I really just want to say that I've really taken a lot of action regarding this podcast. I've literally put out 39 episodes within a month. Not because I'm trying to blast out all this random content, because I'm really trying to provide maximum value to people. And. And I feel like doing this audio, doing this podcast episode and this whole podcast series is super valuable. But the main thing that I want you guys to get across in this episode is that literally when I had the thought process of starting a podcast, I reached out to my man Brian. Shout out to Brian if you're listening. And I said, yo, I want to start a podcast. Let's make it happen. I had no idea how I was going to do it. I didn't know how to start a podcast. I didn't know how to submit it to itunes, and. And personally, I didn't want to spend all the time digging and researching and looking and doing all that sort of stuff. I just wanted to start recording. So that's what I did. Right? And for me, this was an actionable game plan that I had. As soon as I got my idea, I didn't wait a day until I wanted to start it. I didn't wait a week until I wanted to start the podcast. I literally found someone reliable in my network that could help me get my podcast up, and he's been working with a lot of our clients, so he really did this for a good friendship benefit. But I found someone in my network that would help me put the podcast up, and I instantly started recording. And I feel like a lot of people aren't in that mindset, and that's what really holds them back from getting started and actually doing more, because they'll have all these amazing ideas, they'll write them down, but then they'll wait till tomorrow to start executing, or they'll say, hey, let me start next week. I'm busy today. And that mindset, period, is not going to get you anywhere. And the main thing I want to give to you today is that if you really want to take action on things, you really want to do more, whether that be with your personal brand, your business relationships, traveling, whatever it may be, do it today. Literally. Simple as that. If you had one piece of advice to take away from me, from this podcast, it would be, do it today. Don't wait until tomorrow, because what you can do today should not be put off until tomorrow, because you need to maximize your time daily and focus on what's important to you and really get crystal clear on where you want to take your life over the next 3, 6, 12, 18 months. Because it's funny, literally, with this podcast, I have all these aspirations, I have all these goals, I have all these what ifs about what if I get a million downloads, what kind of sponsorships can I get? Right? But a lot of people think about the big points, but they don't focus on the little points. See, as soon as I started my podcast, I wanted to get seven episodes out in my first week, and I instantly started recording that day. And I made four podcast episodes that day and started to drift them out throughout the week. And I think that the mindset of action is something that you guys really have to start to adapt if you are not already in it, because that is how you're going to win. Whether that be winning an accomplishment, winning a goal, whatever it may be, if you want to win, start getting into action, do it now mindset. And that's the main thing. Like I said, I want to get across in this episode. I know I've been going kind of in depth into some examples, but even with writing a book, I remember I had an idea to write my book, Rise of the Young, if you are not familiar. And my books about personal branding, my story about how I overcame negativity. I was almost paralyzed when I was 15 years old. And I really talk about inside my book about my journey coming from a small town in Chesterfield, Virginia, where it's kind of just a negative environment. And I was in my neck brace. And I really talk about my journey from literally coming from a negative environment, almost being paralyzed, to now traveling, networking, all this amazing stuff. But the reason I wrote the book and the important thing about why I'm talking to you right now about it is because I had the idea. I wrote down what I wanted to be about, and then I executed on it. And. And even for me, writing a book is phenomenal. I'm so happy I did it. But every single time you accomplish something you want more, you're always as good as your last at bat, right? So I always say to people, if you want to accomplish something, focus on the do it now factor. Really get zoned into making it happen and executing on it on a daily basis. Literally. For me, if I want to do something like, for example, I wanted to start this website that I'm going to be being able to have my podcast on. There's going to be blog articles, all this cool stuff. I'm hiring the design team today. I'm gonna start building the website tonight. Tomorrow I'll be giving them strategic plans about what I want to do. And this literally came about today while I was in School and I don't wait on it. Because you shouldn't. If you really have to wait on something that you want to make happen, you don't want it enough. Whether that be going to the gym on a daily basis, whether that be writing a book, starting a brand. If you are not doing it today, it tomorrow and the next day consistently, how do you expect to win if you're not doing it on a daily basis? And that's the thing I really want you guys to really, really focus on today is that if you want to win, focus on how you're going to do it on the daily active notice. So, for example, when I first started writing my book, like I said, I had an idea, I wrote it down, but if I did that only, nothing would have came about. It was the definite decision in my mind that I knew I wanted to write my book, so I did it right. And I feel like a lot of people don't make that definite decision, and therefore they never get the result they want. But I know a lot of people listening. You may already have success, you may already have something you've accomplished, but if you want to keep the momentum going, you want to keep getting better day in and day out, focus on the do it now factor. See, the do it now factor is something that a lot of people get misinterpreted. I feel like, because so many of us have these aspirations, have these goals, and I myself get caught up in this trap sometimes of procrastination, doing something differently than you said you were going to do. Like, for example, I know a lot of us can get caught up, whether that be on social media, whether that be watching YouTube videos, whatever it may be. There's definitely distractions that you have to start to pry away from that. If you actually take the mental capacity to focus on what you got to do daily, that's the only thing that's gonna break through. Because I totally agree with you. If you're one of these people that do agree that there is so many things to get just overwhelmed with, whether that be family, whether that be daily activities, whatever it is, if you really want to start taking action and execute more efficiently, this is something I do, and I write down my goals daily. I literally got a giant calendar two days ago from Target, and it sits on my desk now. And I like to actually put down in pen about what I have to do today, what I'm doing tomorrow. And I really strategically map out my weeks. And then the night before, every single night, I write down my goals or not goals, tasks that need to be completed the next day. So if that's you and that helps you stay organized, I would highly suggest getting a calendar. This has already helped me over the last couple of days that I've had it, but I've already kept a calendar on my notes and. But I feel like having a calendar in physical form has definitely allowed me to really focus on some other things instead of having my phone in my hand all day looking at my calendar and all that sort of stuff. But like I said, this podcast is not gonna be super long. This is something cool that I wanted to really experiment with is like the 10 minute podcast episodes. I would suggest if you guys could shoot me a DM on Instagram CaseyAdams1 and and let me know what you think about the short podcast episodes. Because I know there's a lot of podcast episodes that are 30 minutes an hour long, two hours long. And for me, I like those. But I feel like little things like this that just have a burst of energy that are really focused to the point, straightforward with it. Those I like, I've seen a lot of people start to like those as well. So just let me know, are you interested in the 10 minute podcast episodes or would you rather listen to something that's 20, 30 minutes and definitely let me know. But before we end this podcast episode, I want to give a big shout out to Gary Vee. His book just came out called Crushing It. And for, for those who don't know about Gary Vee, definitely look him up. But I'm sure if you're listening to this podcast right now, you know who Gary Vee is, right? So Crushing it came out the other day. It's his new book and it is called Crushing it how great entrepreneurs build their businesses and influence and how you can too. And overall, this book's about personal branding, talks about how you can increase your leverage and your credibility online using social media. Literally, Gary was at the forefront of every single social media platform. He's literally a pioneer of the industry. And I know I talk a lot about personal branding, building on social media, networking on social media. And I've learned so much from Gary that I would highly suggest picking up his new book called Crushing It. This is not a paid advertising. I'm just saying this because I genuinely believe that the new book Crushing it can very, very help you in your entrepreneur endeavors regarding personal brand, brand building, social media following, and overall, just cultivating a personal brand that can last for a long time and create a legacy for you. So that being said, make sure you go check out order the book crushing it today. Get it on Amazon. I would really appreciate it. And let Gary know that you came from my podcast because his book has already helped me. I got it about a week ago and it's literally already changed the direction in which I will be taking my personal brand. But that being said, like I said, this is going to be a short podcast episode and everyone listening. I would very, very very much appreciate it if you could drop a subscribe button this episode. Make sure to review the podcast, drop 5 star rating if you think it was good. If not, let me know your honest opinion. But that being said, I want to thank everyone listening right now. Like I said, my name is Casey Adams. If you're new here, make sure you go shoot me a Follow on Instagram acadams1. All of that information will be down in the description. I hope everyone has an amazing day and I will catch you guys on the next episode. Peace.
