This is the Rise of the Young podcast, bringing you insights from the most innovative entrepreneurs and influencers of this era. Hosted by 17 year old entrepreneur, author, public speaker and branding expert, Casey Adams. Now let's get right into the show.
What's going on everyone? Casey Adams here. Welcome to the Rise of the Young podcast. Today on episode 42, we're going to be talking about time management, how I manage my time, and some tips and tricks that I use that I hope to provide value to you in. I get a lot of questions from younger entrepreneurs overall. They always ask me, how do you manage your time, how do you manage travel, with school, with all these different types of stuff. So I'm making this podcast just to break down a few questions that everyone has been asking me that I know can be valuable to you. So during the week, Monday through Friday, I'm sure as a lot of you guys know, I'm still a high school senior. I am 17 years old, I have to go to class and my school starts around 7:20 in the morning, east coast time. So I wake up around 7, I'm at school by 7:20. And on even days I get out around 10:15. The other day I get out around 11:50 in the afternoon. So like I said before, I don't go to school that long in these days. On days like today, I got off at 10:15. That gives me a lot of time during the day to really manage my time, to stay focused, to be crystal clear, to really execute and make things happen. But I'm sure as a lot of you guys know, whether that be you have a job, you go to school, whatever it may be, I say it's not about how much time you have to do things you want, but it's about how much time you Use efficiently and effectively to get the things you want. That's the key. So when it comes to my schedule, I go to school, I'm either out, like I said, 10, 15, 11, 50. When I get home, I like to eat. I like to stay energized, stay on top of my game. I either have a cup of coffee or organic tea. And pretty much this just allows me to rejuvenate from the morning. I usually don't have a big breakfast. I just go right into my day, go to school, come home, eat a big lunch. And then after I get home, I, like I said, eat, have coffee, tea, and then after that, I go up to my office, upstairs in my room, and that's when I start executing. And I would say the biggest thing that kind of keeps me on track, that I'm sure a lot of you guys already do, but this is something I do. I like to plan out my days the night before. I recently got this journal, actually yesterday. It's called the Mastery Journal by John Lee Dumas. And I've literally been using it for only two days. It's super, super effective. That's all I'm saying. It literally helps you master productivity, focus and discipline within 100 days. And I would. This is not a paid promotion. I just want to make that clear. But I'm just saying this is something that has helped me that is very, very cool. And I think you guys could value from it for sure. So other than that, I like to stay crystal clear on what I have to do day in and day out, because this is a simple key. If you can control your days, that will itself control your weeks, that itself will control your months, and then your years will take care of themselves. So a lot of people have these big goals, these big aspirations. They think long term, which you do have to. But focus on the now, focus on the execution to get to where you want to be, because that's the only thing that will separate you from your goals is the action time and really the effort you put in. So that being said, after that, I come home, I just start executing. I have a plan, I have a clear outline of what I have to do for the day. And then once I get up to my room, stay focused, get down, sit down, look at my agenda, I just start doing it. That's the biggest thing. As soon as I say what. Whether that be create three podcast episodes, whether that be send an email to all my clients, whether that be updating my team about what's the objective for the week. I always Have a task at hand that I need to get done, that I just start doing and that helps me stay on task and it helps me not get distracted. But I'm sure a lot of you guys know getting distracted is super, super easy, especially with social media, with distractions. I live at home, my family's over here, walking in and out of the room. So there's always different distractions that I think come up for me, I'm sure. As for you as well. And you cannot let distractions be a negative outcome of your day. Yes, you get to control your distractions, but it's all about the time that you spend executing. If you have to suddenly go somewhere to pick somebody up or go get something, don't let that affect your mood the rest of the day. Make it affect your schedule and really help you transform it into a more productive, efficient schedule. Because it's not about the time that you have doing stuff, it's about the time you put in a effectively in productivity that really makes you win for the day. Because if you can win the day, you'll win the week. Like I said earlier, but when it comes to accomplishing a task, whether that be a podcast episode, whether that be just writing some of a book, whatever it may be, because I published my book last summer and I always focus on hour and a half increments of writing, but I always make sure that I take a good 20 to 30 minutes from my task at hand once I complete it, just to really rejuvenate, refocus, so then the next period of my day I can really dive deep into it. So that's something I like to do. Just take a little short 20, 30 minute break. I would highly suggest that just walk around, get up, stand up, do a little exercise, whatever it may be, and then just get right back to it. I think that's super, super good for me that I think a lot of people don't do or try to get away from because I personally can't sit in a chair or whatever for an X amount of hours just sitting there staring at a screen. Yes I can, but it's like physically I don't want to and I have to stand up and really rejuvenate before I dive right in. So the next thing, when I'm taking these 20, 30 minutes, I always make sure to take breaks, catch up on text, emails, whatever it may be really quickly. But I'm sure a lot of you guys have read the four Hour Work Week. Tim Ferriss, he actually talks about where he has a certain 25 to 30 minutes a day, every single day, whether that be 6 o' clock to 6:30, 5 o' clock to 5:30, whatever it may be, whatever you set for yourself that works in your schedule to only focus on getting back to people. So that's just a little tactic that I wanted to put out there. I don't personally do it that much. I kind of have my own strategy when it comes to like responding to people throughout the day because I always have to stay communicative with my team. But I would say overall, when it comes to productivity, my daily routine every day is not the same. But I do try to stay in a rhythm when it comes to getting home, when it comes to the time I eat, when it comes to the things that I do a certain time. And yes, things come up, things change. But I would say for everyone listening, if you really want to be more productive, focus on staying consistent with a habit, whether that be taking 10 minutes a day to meditate, to read, whatever it may be. I forgot to mention earlier, the first thing I do when I get home from school is I meditate for 10 minutes. I go to a YouTube video, type in 10 minute meditation. There's a few ones that I like, but pretty much I'll just do a meditation, get my mind clear. I'll read for a good 15, 20 minutes and then, then I jump right into my daily task. I forgot to mention that pretty critical period of my day, which is super important to me. But overall, I would say towards the end of the day, I really like to focus on rejuvenating and getting my tasks for the day tomorrow, done today, meaning writing it down, making sure I know what I'm going to do tomorrow as well as hitting the gym. I usually go to the gym around 8 or 9 o', clock, sometimes 10 or 11. But I always try to hit the gym once a day. For sure, I've slacked off recently because I was sick. But no excuses, I definitely try to hit the gym daily. But yeah, this podcast, this is just something I wanted to put out there to get people and let people know my schedule, the way I perform, the productive things that I do that I hope that you can take away from this. And I want to, I want you guys to hit me up on Instagram aceadams1dm me and let me know some productivity hacks or tips or tricks that you implement into your life that you have found to be productive that you have found to help you. Because I'm always looking for different skills and tactics to experiment with and then same vice versa. I hope that a few things that I said in this podcast have helped you and you could really experiment with them. It's not about just doing it and stopping. It's about over time, experimenting, see what works best and then if you like it, stick with it. If you don't, go to the other one. But, but that being said, everyone listening, make sure you let me know on instagram @casey adams1 shoot me over a message about your thoughts about this podcast regarding how I manage my time, my daily habits, my daily task, my schedule. This was just something I wanted to get out there because I get a lot of questions about how I manage my time. So I would just really appreciate it if you guys could let me know on Instagram. What is your schedule? What are the productive productivity tips that you use on a daily basis? Do you have a schedule? Do you just go with the flow? What is your schedule? Let me know. I'd really appreciate it. And overall, that being said for everyone listening, I am going to be doing a book giveaway on my podcast. I'm sure as a lot of you guys and girls know, I have my own book. It's called Rise of the Young. I wrote this when I was 16 years old and it's pretty much about how to turn your negative situation into a positive outcome and build a successful personal brand. The book's about 120 pages, super, super short, very, very good read in my eyes at least. But regarding the giveaway, all you have to do is message me on Instagram a DM telling me that you came from the podcast, that you subscribed, that you reviewed it and left a good rating or bad rating, an honest rating overall, and share the podcast with three friends and get them to subscribe. So that might have sounded confusing. I'm gonna break it down. There's four steps. Number one, if you want to win a free Rise of the Young book. Number one, subscribe to the Rise of the Young podcast. Number two, leave a review. Number three, leave a rating. Number four, get three friends to subscribe to the Rise of the Young podcast. And number five, DM me on Instagram or when they have done that. And I will be picking a winner for the book giveaway in about a week. Today is February 1st, so about February 8th, I will be picking a giveaway winner. So make sure you do that. Everyone listening. I'm gonna be giving away a book. Like I said, make sure you participate. I really much appreciate it. I want to share my book with a lot of the listeners that are listening today, and I want to thank you for listening right now. But that being said, I hope you enjoyed this podcast. I hope you enjoyed my schedule, and I really appreciate it if you guys could all participate in the book giveaway. I'm trying to share this knowledge, you know, what it is. But that being said, I will see you guys on the next episode. Have a good one. Peace.
