In this solo episode of Mogul Moments, host Camille D. Jamerson (CDJ), a consultant and CEO, shares a poignant memory of her late grandmother who, at age 96, told a 40‑something‑year‑old Camille, “You’re going to be amazing when you grow up.” Reflecting on the grandmother’s perspective—that Camille had only lived half of her life—Camille frames this as a “mogul moment” for Generation X. She argues that Gen Xers (late 30s‑50s) often feel overlooked, believing they must sacrifice their own ambitions for millennials or boomers. She counters that they still possess abundant time to pursue dreams, launch businesses, and achieve personal growth. The episode blends personal storytelling with motivational advice, urging listeners to stop letting age limit their vision, to act now, and to share feedback as season 1 wraps up. Camille concludes with a call to follow her on various social platforms for additional content.

Mogul Moments. Well, hello and welcome back to Mogul Moments. I'm your host, CDJ, also known as Camille D. Jamerson, the consultant and CEO of CDJ Associates. I'm so glad that you made it back for this week. Week's episode of Mogul Moments. We're going to talk about today something that happened between me and my grandmother. Actually, she's the grandmother that I'm named after. She's my dad's mom, and she said something to me on one of her previous birthdays that has always stood out to me once I really understood what she was saying. My grandmother, who has since, um, gone on to be with the Lord, was turning, I want to say, 96 at the time. So she was very much up in age and we had all gone over to her house to celebrate. And when she saw me, she just kind of grabbed my face and once she kind of, you know, remembered who I was, she was like, "Oh, Camille, Camille, how old are you?" And at the time, I told her I was 40, whatever I was, and she looked at me, she's like, "Oh, baby." You're gonna be amazing when you grow up. What? Is what I was thinking in the back of my head. I'm like, Nanny, which is what we called her, I'm like, what does she mean when I grow up? Does she know that I'm like 40-something? I mean, I didn't say 4 or 14 or 24. I'm 40-something. I'm about as grown up as I'm gonna get. However, when I thought about it some more and I talked to one of my cousins about it, you know what I realized? In her mind, because she was in her 90s, I had only lived about half the life that I still had left to live, right? According to her, according to how old she was and from her perspective or her vantage point, I was just at halftime. I still had a total half of life left to give and to live and to, to do and to grow up. So what does this have to do with being a mogul? What does this have to do with being a CEO or running your own business? I'm going to tell you something. This message isn't necessarily for millennials. Not that you can't learn anything from it, but this isn't for you. This is for people in my generation, the Gen X generation, who, because sometimes, because we're a forgotten generation, we have a tendency to think that, well, we're just gonna do this for our kids who are the millennials and pass this down to them, or we're gonna do this so we can better take care of our parents who are the boomers. No, you have value add right where you are in your generation, in your time, for yourself. All of those people in those perimeters are important and you can get to that, but don't think just because you're at late 30s or 40s or 50s that you don't have time to do what it is that you want to do and dream the dreams and see those dreams come true and manifest just because you're of a certain age. You've got plenty of time. According to my grandmother, you got a whole lot of time to grow up and be amazing. So let that be your mogul moment for today. Don't let how old you are, um, hinder you from your dreams and your visions and your goals. That has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Do we wish in some cases that we had started earlier or had known what we known when we were back in our 20s and when we were in our early 30s? Absolutely, I hear you, but we didn't, and here we are. And we could only do and make the decisions that we could make with the information that we had at time. So we're here now. You're in your 30s, late 30s, you're in your 40s, you're in your 50s. Let's do this. You have a lot of time left. There are dreams left to dream. There are visions left to see manifest. You can do it. Roll with me. We got a whole lot of time to grow up and be amazing. Thank you so much for tuning in to this Mogul Moments. Wasn't it fun? I'm so glad that I was able to share something with you.
