Day 110: Everydayness...

Chad Silverstein on two moves for growth: find mentors by reaching out to experienced people, and treat yourself as CEO of YOU by changing how you think. Writing down your thoughts and adopting bigger-picture thinking costs nothing and can transform your career.

The build to lead clients are usually the head of the system. They're the president, the CEO, the founder, and they're spending at minimum 3,000amonth just to work with a builder one on one. A lot of people can't afford that and a lot of people have never tasted executive coaching. One of the purposes of this community is to give people an opportunity to kind of get a taste of coaching and to get a lot of these insights that are inside a CEO entrepreneur's head that they normally wouldn't get because their boss doesn't share and doesn't expose them to things. And two things that you can do, no matter who you are, no matter what role you're in, no matter how new you are, is take control of what you can do, which one is get mentors in your life. And two, upgrade your mindset. There's no excuse for not doing either one of those things, which those alone can be transformational and are transformational. When you find and pick the right people to connect to. And it's literally just finding who's the best of the best at whatever you're interested in and asking them to go meet you for a drink, a cup of coffee, having lunch, you can come out and just ask flat out, I'd love to just ask you a bunch of questions that I've been dying to ask someone who is an expert in what you do. And most people want to give that gift, they want to share, they want to give it back. And so, especially for young professionals, this is a no brainer. If you're thinking about going into a certain industry and you want to be in real estate, then go find the people who are in real estate and go take them out to lunch and ask them for 45 minutes of their time where you could just ask them questions and then ask them the best, most curious questions you could ask. And the learning that you can get out of those types of meetings, taking the initiative to just talk to someone, asking questions, if it's a zoom call, a phone call, could save you not only years of pain, but also avoid making huge mistakes. So having as many mentors in your life as you possibly can, especially if they can stick and you're able to get them regularly, that's a win. And nobody can do it alone. So find out who's done it before, who you admire, and then go learn from them and ask them for their time. And trust me, people want to do favors for people. So if you ask the right way, you always get a good positive answer. And there's no risk, there's no harm. It doesn't cost you anything. And the other thing is the mindset. The mindset is just a way of thinking and to be able to be the CEO of Y O U. You know, Chad always likes to say that, Capital Y, capital O, capital U. Because you really are a CEO of yourself. You don't have to be the CEO of a big corporation to be the CEO. You have to own yourself. And the way you can do that is to upgrade your mindset, Change your, your thinking, change your perception, change your life. And these days, the amount of information, the people that you can learn from, the free resources on YouTube to the course on Udemy, I mean, you name it. There are countless ways that you can upgrade your mindset. The most powerful way is to get your thoughts on paper and do the core work that we do. But it is just a way of thinking and it is a way of understanding the way other people think so that you can filter that through and either adopt this way of thinking or choose not to, and either way it's a win. And the more clear that you can get and the more you can upgrade your mindset, the more successful you're going to be. It's a powerful thing when you can actually start, start thinking on a bigger level. And when you do that, something happens. Something happens because now that you're thinking bigger, you start to see things that you didn't see before. Opportunities come up and now you are looking for it so you can jump on it. Whereas before, if you didn't, if you didn't think that way, you never would have saw it. And all you have to do is think about how many steps lead up to your front door. Most people don't know them. You do it every day. You don't even know how many steps. Why? Because you don't think of it, you're not focused on it. But if you're an architect and you've got this big dream and you're going to just upgrade your mindset to looking at details and knowing everything, all of a sudden you're going to start to see things like that, right? So upgrading your mindset, thinking differently, staying focused on whatever it is that you're in and then kind of outside the box, thinking and, and really, you know, upgrading the way you think, getting more, getting, becoming tougher, having more of a positive mental attitude, and reframing the way you see things all will upgrade your mindset and help you be more successful. And you have no excuse, no matter who you are, no matter how much you get paid, no matter what you're all in to not focus on finding people who will impact you positively and thinking differently. You got to do it. You got to do both of them, and you have to be proactive. And actually, you actually have to go do it. So what are you waiting for? Go pick someone and go pick something and go do it.
