Day 124: 20, 40, 60...

Chad Silverstein and a co-speaker argue that daily discipline in 20, 40, 60 minute blocks—reading, writing, praying, walking—builds the margin needed for growth. Consistent journaling creates a lasting record of your life and thinking.

I don't know what the recipe is. If it's 20, 40, 60, 30, 60, 90, I do know that you need to have one. You need to have this as part of your process. You need to have some sort of process discipline way of pursuing your growth that is consistent, that you can hold yourself accountable to.
If you don't, then you're just going.
To kind of go in those fits.
And starts and you'll go a long time.
And I've seen this and heard this from so many people who I've worked with at Build to Lead that they.
Haven'T, you know, worked on their worldview.
For so long and they haven't, you know, checked out their opus, you know, forever. And I think, you know, that that speaks to the fact that they don't.
Have a certain process in place.
It's not the most important thing, their priority. And if it is, they're just being lazy about it. And it could be as simple as just not having a process.
So again, when you look at this.
Daily discipline, the 20, 40, 60, it's about you coming up with your process.
When are you learning, when are you reading, when are you writing, when are.
You praying, when are you reflecting, when do you get time by yourself?
When do you go for a walk? You have to play with different ways that you can build these routines into your. Into your day, into your week, into your month, until your year. And if you don't, you end up.
Looking back at the end of the.
Year and going, wow, time went really fast.
Where did it go?
It's because you were very busy doing.
A lot of things and not stopping and slowing down and building that margin time into your life and finding time to be a little unproductive, which is hard for people to do, especially high performers, but it's what's required if you want to have a meaningful life where you can stop and smell the roses, right?
You know, your journals, your writing becomes your legacy.
It's one of the only things you're.
Going to leave behind in this world. And that's a big deal for a.
Lot of people who have kids and want to leave something substantial.
You know, your thoughts are things, and they can have a huge impact when you're long gone.
And that just won't happen if you don't take time to write. So make time for your process, figure out what your process is going to.
Be and then do it.
