Day 139: Mental Health 301...

A short personal-reflection by Chad Silverstein arguing that when life feels like it is burying you during hard times, you are often being "planted"—going through unseen growth that later produces positive change. He encourages a perspective shift: hardships can lead to strength, new people, and circumstances that serve a purpose, even if the benefit is only visible later.

I came across something the other day that was so powerful. I really. I heard it and I stopped and I thought about it and I was like, wow, this is just so rings true for me personally, so I'm going to share with you, and that is that when you feel like you're being buried and when you feel like life is just crushing you almost to the point where you kind of feel like suffocated a little bit because you got some really hard stuff that you're dealing with and nothing can go your way, you just find those moments in your life where you find yourself feeling that way. Ironically, those are the moments where you're not really being buried, you're actually being planted. Planted, meaning that usually you're going to come out of this situation different. And when you look back at that situation, look back at any situation in your life that was really hard for you, and you realize that, you know, at the time, it was just brutal going through it. You didn't understand why. But the ones that you can look back at and you do understand why, and you can see what happened as a result of it, the change, the people that you met, the circumstances that made you end up wherever you were, whether it was where you were working or whether you were living or who you were with, you can now probably look back and see how you weren't being buried. You were just going through a tough time, and actually you were kind of being picked back up. You just weren't there yet. You know, they always use analogies in leadership growth about, like, what's happening underneath the ground. You know, you plant the seed and it's growing, it's doing its thing. You just don't see it kind of come up. And then, you know, it's hard to kind of understand the growth that's happening underneath. But as soon as it sprouts up and as soon as you start to see that thing grow, you know, it's. It's a pretty cool way of. Of seeing your plight, your struggles and challenges. So if you're going through a hard time or when you go through a hard time, you know, again, it's a perspective. It's. It's not easy, but there is some power in understanding that you're going to come out of whatever you're going through stronger, different, better, and it's going to serve a purpose just again, sometimes you'll see it and sometimes you won't.
