Day 153: Physical dreams...

A short motivational talk (YouTube video) by Chad Silverstein about pursuing big dreams through deliberate, practical steps. He emphasizes self-awareness (catching the inner voice), disciplined reflection (meditation-like practices), incremental progress (baby steps and responding to feedback), and the value of a community for sharing and testing one’s vision.

So this is kind of cool. This is the third day in a row that we're talking about pursuing a big dream, and we're giving you practical steps that you can actually do in order to kind of make something real in your life. You know, a lot of people will think a lot, and we don't even realize that we're talking to ourselves all day long, every single day. And you have to be aware of the little voice in your head because it's controlling you more than you actually think. And it's not necessarily really who you are, because our brains just react and we think about things and we have thoughts that kind of come in and out. So doing the hard work and being part of this builder's journey that you're on with us at Build to Lead, it's going to give you an opportunity to be more deliberate. And what that means is you get your distractions out of the way, you sit down at your desk, you just reflect and you think. And when you find that you've just dozed off and your brain's taking you somewhere, you catch it, you come back. I mean, this is what meditation's all about. They tell you to practice on your breathing because your breathing is the actual only thing in your life that's present. Because as soon as the moment passes, that's the past. And typically, we're all stuck thinking about the future because of what we want to do or what we're nervous about or whatever we're worried about or thinking about or pursuing, and we forget to stop and just kind of be in the moment. And that's a scary place to be. Built to lead allows you to stop, pause, reflect, slow down, and again, be deliberate with how you think and how you write, how you process and how you pursue things. And so here we're talking a few days in a row about dreaming. Vague. And it's a strategy. It's part of the process, because most people never do it. And you actually have to be disciplined to do it and to be consistent with it. It doesn't mean you're gonna be doing it every day, and it doesn't mean that you're gonna be obsessed with it. In fact, most people who author an opus, typically what happens is once they get it to where it's really good, they don't make that many big changes to it. A lot of times it's a. Or depending on if they have to pivot, maybe a major change with it. But then typically, it either goes up on the wall somewhere in your phone somewhere where you can look at it every once in a while, because you're not gonna be looking at it every day. It becomes part of you. It becomes part of your language, a part of your being. And what you're busy doing is popping it out. You're doing productive actions. You're taking the baby steps, and you're just moving towards it very slowly. And then you're gonna respond to what you've learned on that journey. So that if you need to go a different direction, if you need to figure something out because you've hit a wall, if you need to talk to someone else to help you, whatever it is that you're going to be challenged with, because you will be met with challenges, you know, you'll sidestep them. But when you have aim and you have clarity, you tend to, like, just navigate through those things. Sometimes you get stuck and you're on that plateau and it feels like you're in the valley, and then all of a sudden, you just get a burst. And so, again, we always say it's not linear. You're not just going to, like, figure it out, write it out. A lot of people just want to have something written down, but it's got to be genuine and sincere. And this, day 153, this is the recipe. So feel free to take what I shared with you yesterday or what Chad's sharing with you today in this discipline and just keep getting busy. And if you really want to put yourself out there, share it. Share. Share a version of this. You know, one thing I'll say about my team at Trust Recovery is the courage that it took people to stand up in front of my team and belt out their opus, their vision, and let people just challenge them and question it. And to watch the firing squad being, you know, interrogating people about what they want to do. And a lot of times it wasn't a big vision about being at my company. And, you know, it takes a lot of courage to stand up in front of your boss and to do that knowing that you're not going to be here. So, you know, if people at my company could do it, you can do it, too. And so that's what we built the community for. So, you know, feel free, you know, to connect us with it and ask for feedback, and you'll be surprised, you know, what insight or perspective you might get that might help you. So feel free to take the challenge or don't. Again, it's your choice. You do what you want with it. Thanks.
