Day 16: Love too…

Chad Silverstein says identifying what you love to do is core to building character and purpose. Write a specific list of activities you love, narrow it to around 10 to 15, then schedule them intentionally and share them with people close to you.

Day 16. Your passions, your love. Tos, what we call, you know, we go through the book really fast, but you have to understand that, you know, there are clients who will work on building out their core for the first six months of being a client. And we just went from identity to principles and out of the love tos within a few days. So you just have to keep that context in mind as you go through this process. You know, you want to pick. You know, pick one of these to really focus on. You can always come back, and it doesn't matter where you are as long as you're moving forward. So pick one of these. You have your worldview, you have your. Your identity. You have your principles. Again, that's the whip, and that's the first part of the six pack, which really makes up your character. And then you're gonna have your three P's which are next. This is the second part of the core, building your core, which is gonna be your passions, your purpose, and your process. And right now, today, we're talking about the passions. We're talking about the things that will fuel your purpose. And that's why this is so important, to make sure that you kind of grasp the nuance and the melody line of the passions. So the first thing is you just write out everything that you can think of that you love, things that you love to do, and you want to try to be specific. You know, when I first went through this process, I probably didn't put as much emphasis on this piece of the core like I did some of the other ones. And I didn't realize, you know, the purpose of it. And the funny thing is that it fuels the purpose. So you start by just writing out all the things you love, right? I mean, the things that we love and love in itself is what really gives us fuel in life. And we get caught in the daily grind. We get caught in stressful stuff, situations. Life throws things at us, and you don't realize that you haven't done things that you love in so long. And it's a shame. You know, when I was in strategic coach, we used to talk about taking free days, and, you know, we used to be coached to literally stick days on our calendar and block them off and schedule things, because otherwise you're never going to do it. And for me, I'm. I'm addicted to work. I love work. I actually love work. And it's a problem because I can work too much. I can get lost in it. I find that flow, and that could come at the expense of other. The things that I love, which is a dangerous place to live. So if you can relate, it's a good place to stop and pause and build in some of these passions and these love tos and even do them with the people that you love. So the 1.0 version of this is to write out everything that you love. I love this, I love that. And you want to be a specific. You don't want to be general and say, I love to travel, because that doesn't really. It's not going to really do you any good when you look back at that. You want to be as specific as possible. I love traveling and being on a beach and watching a sunset, you know, that is very, very specific. And it's something that you actually can go do. And if you find that you love doing something like that. I know my friend Grappy, the Ohio State wrestling coach, we interviewed him and he talked about what he does every single morning. And he has a beautiful view when he. When he wakes up out of his house where he lives. And he painted this picture for us, and it was so beautiful. And then he showed me a video the next day of him doing it, and I just love that. And he does it every day. It's become a discipline of his. And if you can do that, then you're certainly on your way to becoming built to lead, that's for sure. So again, your passions fuel your purpose, which we'll get to in further days. And you want to rinse out that long list of all those things. And over time, you know, my goal is to get like 100 things on a list and then narrow it down to 20 and then get it down to a good solid 10 to 15. But there is no right or wrong way to do that. Just make sure that you are, you know, writing out all the things and thinking about things and not just doing this exercise and then skipping. So this is one of the construction zones. This is the time to slow down and write this out. It's a great place to share it with the community and get some feedback, get challenged and ask questions. And make sure you check out the Playbook, and you can check out the 12 Essentials playbook, and there's probably some information and content in there if you want to learn more about it.
