Day 194: No stability without volatility...

A short YouTube conversation (daily discipline) between Chad Silverstein and another speaker about embracing both adversity and success. They advise leaders to accept ongoing pain, learn to cope with suffering, and also to fully enjoy and be grateful during high points, recommending practices like writing to capture those moments.

So today's daily discipline is about embracing the adversity. We've been talking about it a lot lately.
I'm going to flip it and talk.
About the other way, which is the nuance that you got to celebrate the wins and you got to embrace the traditions and you got to be able to just be really happy when things are going really well. Most leaders are always dealing with pain.
In some sort of way, whether it.
Be from a people perspective, their business, their team, or whatever they're struggling with. And so the pain really never goes away. You just have to get really good at how to deal with it, embrace it, and hope that it doesn't get worse. But when things are really good, you're breaking records, you're. You're making more money than you ever have, you're healthy as can be, your.
Relationships are solid, you just found the.
Best person to come in and join your team.
You really have to kind of embrace that. And just as much as you'll be coached to have the ability to embrace.
Pain and suffering and unchosen suffering or.
When you put yourself in acute pain, you gotta just also embrace the fact that when things are good, you just can't not be grateful for it and enjoy it while it lasts, knowing that if you're riding a high, it's not gonna stay that way.
And if you can think of people in your life and see that's not true, because I know people who ride that high and they're always high. Usually most people say that because they have a lot of money. And those are usually the people who are like in prison.
You just don't know it because they.
Live a private life and you have no clue what's going on in other people's lives.
Nobody has it easy. And sailing high all the time, everybody's struggling with something.
So embrace the adversity for sure, but embrace the good times when you're on.
A high, knowing that you know it's.
Not always going to be like that.
And really take it in because you.
Don'T know when the last one is going to be your last one.
So you got to really just take it in the best you can. And one of the best ways to.
Do that is to write about it.
Your journals won't forget, not something you can pass on.
