Day 197: Nuancing...

Chad Silverstein on why thousands of small adjustments matter in leadership. Being tough and tender at the right moment, knowing when to challenge versus support, and repeating small productive actions compounds into breakthroughs in relationships and growth.

This is actually one of my favorite aspects of Built to Lead outside of the melody line and being able to, like, create your own melody line for your experience. But the nuancing is what makes Built Elite so special, because there's literally a thousand nuances to everything. Everything that we experience, the way we do things, there's no one right way to do everything. And what makes the Build to Lead Leader so attractive and influential is that they've nuanced everything that they've done and what they're doing in a way that makes them, again, an outlier, someone very different that people want to run through walls for. And your take on whatever it is that you're learning is your little nuance. And you could always find a little nuance. So I recently had one with this day. Tough and tender. That's how the day starts off. And I added, timing is really important. So you can be tough, you can be tender, but the timing is really important because you got to know when to challenge your teammate. You got to know when to kind of come alongside and put your arm around them, and they need to pick me up. You got to be self aware of the fact that with your team having a lot of trust, when a new person comes in, they're going to feel like an outsider. You have to understand that there's a nuance to asking questions and challenging people and either being curious or challenging. But when you're curious and challenging, you're mixing your message and it's confusing. So there's just nuances to every single piece and part to build the lead. And you got to figure out your nuance. Your nuance to your opus, your nuance to your worldview. You're nuanced to the way that you're going to take productive actions away from practice and the way you're going to come and share your opus and the way you're going to show up when you go home tonight. The little thing that you're going to do, and it's thousands of little, little things, and they add up, they're just. They're not just little things. And that's what makes the build to the journey so exciting, is that you get to play with these nuances and shift and. And go in a different direction just by making a subtle little change. And that little change could be the thing that breaks everything open. And it usually is. It usually is. Whether it be a relationship, whether it be an opportunity, whether it be your own growth and your burst, whatever it is you're looking for nuancing and those nuances are so big. Don't. Don't overestimate them. Pay attention. This is the little disciplines, the little tweaks, the little things you play with. These are the little tiny productive actions. Every single one of them is a nuance. And as long as you keep moving forward at your aim, it's hard not to be successful if you keep going just a path and a journey full of nuances. So embrace that and pursue more of them.
