Day 214: How to read and write...

Chad Silverstein and Chet Scott discuss how reading and writing have become less common as people rely on summaries, audiobooks, and dictation. Chet shares how a recommended book transformed his literacy skills, then challenges viewers to count what they've actually read and written in the past month.
Chapters
One of the first books that Chet gave me when we started practicing together was this book that he's talking about in today's day. And I could not get through more than a couple pages of felt like torture. And it's funny because I hear him talking about it all the time and I hear him say how much of an impact and it actually taught him how to read and write. And Chet's an avid reader and incredible.
Writer and I don't know, it didn't.
Speak to me and I just had.
A lot of struggle trying to get through this book. I've definitely learned how to embrace reading and writing.
No question, I write a lot. I mean, I have more journals stacked.
Up in a big bin that will.
Take my kids years to get through.
And it's sad today when you think about how many people don't even pick up a book and don't ever write and the amount of loss that comes from not reading and writing. It's definitely not the built to lead way today. With so many shortcuts, apps that can shorten chapters into summaries, audiobooks, speech dictation, we've lost the way to just the.
Old fashioned way of reading and writing. Not to say you can't learn and.
Learn more using tools and resources, but.
You have to ask yourself if you're.
Doing any of it, and that's what I would challenge you with today, is to think about the last 30 days and just take a real quick snapshot. How much have you read and how much have you been writing? Just those two questions. Either you've done none at all, maybe a little bit, or you write and you read all the time. So wherever you find yourself, this is a wake up call for you just to just get hit with, you know, wake up, wake up. And if you're in the camp that hasn't done any reading or writing, there's.
A consequence to that.
Got to use your brain. Lose it, Use it or lose it? Use it or lose it.
