A short YouTube monologue (Day 256) by Chad Silverstein reflecting on public speaking and leadership. The speaker recounts advice learned from Chad—that audience connection (how you make people feel) matters more than exact words—and describes adopting a freer, heart-led, concise speaking style. The piece emphasizes authenticity, brevity, and emotional connection over scripted performance.

When I first met Chad, I was still doing these holiday parties at the end of every year for my staff. And I used to always try to think outside the box and I'd always speak to the company. And I remember the year that chad taught me that 55, 38, 7. And said that it really doesn't matter what you're saying, it matters how you make them feel. And he told me that whenever he gets asked to speak for anything or anyone, he just doesn't care. Whatever the request is, he does what he wants. I thought that was pretty cool. You sit there and you try to remember what you're going to say in front of the group if you've ever done any kind of public speaking. And there's something very freeing about being able to just let it go and just do whatever you want. Just say whatever you want and keep it short, sweet, clear, concise, direct, and then in and out. And yeah, so that changed the way I did speeches. And I certainly didn't try to impress anyone other than just share what was on my mind and in my heart. And I think when you connect with people on a sincere, genuine, authentic level like that, you connect with them. Leaders will connect. And I think you shouldn't plan too much when you're going to speak to any group. And you shouldn't care so much. Right. So care, but not that much. And just speak from your heart. Just speak from your heart. So there's a lot of wisdom in day 256. And I think being comfortable just who you are and however you want to show up, you don't need a good reason for that. As long as you can explain that to yourself, that's all that matters.
