Day 264: Elite endurance...

A short YouTube conversation led by Chad Silverstein about leadership, sustaining performance, and the role of love, passion, and shared purpose (the "opus") in motivating collaboration and growth. Emphasizes that leaders must look beyond themselves, cultivate community, and make their mission inclusive so others will want to join and help.

If you're leading anything and if you want to lead anything, you have to be able to sustain a certain level of performance in order for people to keep wanting to work with you, want to respect you, want you to have credibility with them and to be able to grow. And the only way to do that is to look outside yourself and show some of the love that you have for this passion and this purpose towards the people that are going to have to help you in order to achieve it. Because nobody can do it by themselves. No big company has grown so, so well and strong without having additional people come on and collaborate and together transform whatever it is that they have in the present moment into whatever it's going to become. And if you're not growing, you're going to be dying. So you can't just stand still. It's just not how it works. And people who are complacent, eventually they get shot. You can only wait around for so long before you're going to have to pivot and make changes. So the love carries you through all that stuff. That's why we talk about the opus being a labor of love and not something that you're going to loathe. And it's really going to sustain time. And it's going to also help you connect with other people so that they can feel connected, so that they want to help you. And that's why having a shared common purpose or a goal that you can play with in your culture around your team is really important and to make it feel all inclusive, so it's not just you doing it by yourself. This is why community is such a big deal. This is why we have this community. It's about the oneness that we're at after. And you, you can bubble that up.
With your heart, with the love for whatever it is that you're building, for whatever it is that you're doing or contributing, right? So it doesn't matter what your role is. And you got to think about where.
That shows up in your life, personally and professionally. And since we focus a lot at work when we're on the build to lead journey, you know, you think about your opus now and if you don't have one, start writing one down.
And look, if that, if that leads.
To you becoming a built to Leave, sometimes that's the, that's the result.
So have fun authoring that and pursuing it and just make sure that you love it, whatever it is.
