Day 272: The end game...

Short YouTube monologue by Chad Silverstein emphasizing the importance of having a clear, personal "why" behind major decisions (e.g., selling a company, ending relationships). He argues that a strong why provides clarity, focus, resilience to external criticism, and helps one live with their choices. The speaker draws on personal experience to illustrate the point.

Day 272 is why. We talk about how important it is to have a why behind doing whatever it is you're doing and having a really good, strong why. Chet has always very clearly been able to answer my questions about why he does what he does with the built to lead band and why he does what he does with Built Lead. And I think that was always been a powerful reminder for me and to always make sure that I was very clear on why it is that I was doing what I was doing and why. Why was I making the decisions that I was making, including selling my company? And I could just tell you just from my own experience that I had really good whys. And not only did I have good whys, I could rattle them off for you. And I didn't have anything on the other side. I really didn't. So I was super clear. And I think that when you have that type of clarity, you can make decisions. And sometimes those decisions, many times those decisions are not going to make sense to other people around you. And that's. That's okay. It is okay. It doesn't have to. What it has to do is it has to make you feel like you're whole. It has to make you feel like you are going to be able to live with whatever decision that you made and not worry so much about the approval or, you know, maybe not having the approval of someone that you're friends with, that you respect, that you're doing business with, that guides you. But at the end of the day, you know, you got to live with it. So whatever your decision might be, pay off the debt, sell the company, you know, break up that relationship, start a new one. Just have a good why for why you're doing what you're doing, at least you'll be believable. Doesn't mean you're going to be right, but it means that you know, you know why you're doing it. And that will help carry you, but it will also give you a laser focus during the tougher times when you're being challenged and question why you're doing what you're doing. You can feel good because you know why. And you don't have to bend to other people's opinions. And you know, you can reject, you know, them making you feel a certain way when all they're doing is yapping away at it. So I think. I think just have a clear end game, see what you're doing, know what you're doing and know why you're doing it, and you'll be able to be able to withstand any type of test.
