Day 276: Mindful...

Chad Silverstein and a guest explain how breath anchors you in the present moment, since most of daily life is spent worrying about the future or rehashing the past. Being present in conversations builds trust and makes people feel understood, which is what good leaders do.

There is something really powerful about being able to put yourself in the present moment. You know, when they teach meditation, they always focus on breath. And I remember I heard someone talking once, and it was just a click for me that the reason that you focus on breath is because that's the.
Only thing that's really present in the moment, is your breath. It's always in the present moment.
And you don't realize how much of.
Our day is spent thinking about things that are not in our life.
We're thinking about tomorrow. We're thinking about possibilities, we're thinking about dreams. We're thinking about things that we're scared of. We're also looking and kind of reliving certain memories that we have. And it takes a really strong, cord, disciplined individual to be able to stay.
Focused in the moment and to realize that you're in the moment, to be in that zone.
If you've practiced with Chet, then you.
Know he's always in that zone. So just like today says, I mean, he. He is literally, he's locked and loaded.
So if you're not, you're pract practicing with them, you can be sure you'll get caught off guard. And there have been plenty of times.
Where he's had my response be. I was just lost in thought.
I didn't hear what you just said. And I've learned just to just be.
Honest about that, because to try to BS it doesn't sound so good, and there's no point.
So it's a skill to be able.
To be in the moment, make people.
That you're talking to feel like they are the only person in the world.
That exists at that moment. When you can do that, that is powerful, that builds trust, makes people feel.
Like they're being understood.
And it's a worthy aim for you.
As a skill, you know, to lead your team and to be able to connect with them. The leaders are connectors. You know, that tagline, it means something. You actually have to do it. And the only way to do it.
Is to be mindful of it in.
The moment when you're doing it. So if you think about how many meetings that you have and how many times your phone is around or you'll let people interrupt, you know, you're doing the opposite of what you probably would.
Write down that you want to do. And so you have to know that that's.
That makes a lasting impression on everybody.
That you're working around.
