A short monologue by Chad Silverstein advising builders and leaders to balance self-improvement (the "inner work") with intentional study and understanding of others. He emphasizes timing—knowing when to focus inward versus when to model, tell truth, challenge, or be curious to influence and support others' growth—and recommends deliberately selecting people to observe and scheduling time for this work.

One of the things that builders on their builder journey have to do is they have to find those times to stop working on yourself. You have to we talk about the inner work and build to lead because it all starts with the inner work. But you don't live on this world by yourself. And you have to be able to study other people in your life so that you know what triggers them, you know what moves them, you know what will light them up if needed. Maybe this is at home, maybe it's at work, it's near community. But there is, there is something to be said about leaders who are aware of the other people in their lives and they know when timing wise to be working on themselves and then also to be studying other people so they can help other people who are trying to grow. And for built to lead high performers who are really focused on the inner work, it really kind of turns things inward, which is where we have to start for sure. But there also is something to be said because you're leading other people, trying to influence them. And the best number one way, sure, model the way. Second is you got to know how to tell the truth. And third, you got to be able to challenge and also be curious and know when to be either one of those. And it's hard. So it's a hard thing to do. And it's really up to you to make sure that you are making a deliberate choice on who you want to build into and who you want to tune into. And that requires you to do a little work. And it's sometimes not so natural for people. So pick out some people that you want to study in your system. Be more self aware of that and make sure you're, you know, putting some time into your calendar to do it.
