Day 287: Reflective actionator...

Chad Silverstein on being a reflective actionator: pair quick decisions with deliberate pauses, sleep on big choices for 24 hours, and use trusted people around you to catch when you're stalling or rushing. For founders caught between risk-taking and paralysis.

I love 287. I love this concept, the reflection actionator. I've learned a lot about this just in my journey. And there's something really powerful, being able to have on a daily basis a discipline, to be decisive, but then also to have a process for how you make your decisions, especially the big ones, and to be able to reflect, to preload your response of what you want prior and to be deliberate about what you're doing and why you're doing it before you go do it. You know, I think there's a lot of people in our community, a lot of founders and CEOs that are risk takers and they just press go and they go a little too fast. I've done it. And you know, sometimes waiting, pausing 24 hours, thinking it, sleeping on it, and getting a different perspective can change everything usually does. So you want to be able to be reflective and not take action too quickly, but then also know that fine line of when not to delay too long. And you know, sometimes again, you need some true solid in your life, whether it be your team or, or people who you're close to that know you better than a lot of other people in your life, sometimes better than you know yourself. They can help you see where you're waiting too long to make a decision, where fear's kind of paralyzing you, or where you just jump too quick and you need to slow down. And so wherever you fall in that pendulum, you have to have that self awareness and find that, find that balance. We don't love the word balance in Build Philippe, but there is probably a balance about being in the middle of this recipe, about being a reflective actionator, knowing how long to take, what steps you want to take in regards to your process, and then being decisive and making a decision to either do something or to make a decision to not do something.
