Chad Silverstein speaks directly about the difficulty of pursuing personal and professional goals when friends, family, or colleagues don't support them. He urges listeners to live authentically despite others' doubts, to relinquish control over others' choices, and to model a ‘life worth living’ for one’s children by demonstrating healthy relationships and passion for work.

It's a hard thing when you have a highway that you. You want to go down and you have people in your inner circle, personally, professionally. So this could be at home with family or at work with your leadership team, and you don't get their buy in. It's just. It's just hard. It's hard when you are passionate about something, and if you're in a position that you can go do it anyways, then having to decide if you're going to do that, you know, against other people's will or just against their, you know, better judgment because they don't think it's a good idea or they don't like the idea or whatever it is, but it's hard. It's really hard. And I think anyone who is shooting high and aiming high has to realize you have a responsibility to, you know, sometimes squash the insecurities that we might feel because of people not loving what we're after. But you also have a responsibility to. To live your life the way that it's designed to be. And that's for you to determine whatever it is that you want and not worry about what other people think. That's a hard thing to do. It's hard to let other people, especially your family, you know, live their own path if you disagree with what they want. And being able to embrace that and being able to let people live their life is something that you've got to be able to lose control over because you can't control other people. You do, however, have a responsibility as a parent to show your kids what a life worth living looks like. You know, if you want your kids to have a healthy marriage, you got to show them what one looks like. If you want them to, you know, love their job, you got to show them what someone looks like when they love their job, and you got to be really tuned into that. That's important.
