Day 340: Pyramid or coalition...

Chad Silverstein says leaders set the tone by example: your team follows where you go. Build a loyal coalition by spending time with people and caring for them, but know some will sabotage your efforts.

If you're leading anything, and especially if you're in build to lead and you're working with a builder on your team, you know, if you want your team to go a certain way, if you want your team to be a certain way, you've got to be that. And they have to see it from you 10 times. You know, whether it's. Whether it's the way that you perform or whether it's the way you carry yourself, the way you lead, you know, you need to be the. Be the one, be the change, and you're at the helm. So that's why, you know, we always say the biggest problem in every system is the person at the top. So if you're the founder and you're the CEO, then you're not off the hook. And where you go, the team goes. And if you're a leader, a number two, or someone who is in charge of a big group of individuals that you're trying to lead and grow, you know, you're not off the hook either, you know, because you have the same responsibility now. You just have to kind of, you know, make sure that your highways align with the person who's above you. And there are a thousand nuances in between all of this, and you have to figure that out for yourself. But you want to build a coalition. You want to build a team that will fight and be there for you even when things get tough. And it's hard to build and it's very fragile. So tread water carefully. Spend time with them, build with them, care about them, and expect to be sabotaged by some of them.
