Day 45: Freakin magic in the making...

A short motivational monologue by Chad Silverstein encouraging listeners to "become built to lead" by embracing discomfort, resisting normalcy, and actively stretching their comfort zones. He warns that insecurities and complacency cause people to stagnate while others grow, and urges viewers to define their core values and pursue growth deliberately.

Becoming built to lead doesn't happen overnight. And it's hard, it's hard to be distinctly different on purpose because we all want to belong. We all want to be accepted by people that were around. And those insecurities, if you don't have a strong core, they, they can get you. They can gnaw at you and you can distract yourself and you can ignore them and you can suppress them, but they'll always show their face and usually not at good times. So you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable and you have to really not want to be normal. Being normal means you're going to be like everyone else. It means you're shooting for a way of being mediocre. And it's just like, who wants to do that? You know, I once heard someone say, why would you want to be realistic? And there's truth to it, but there's also some truth to saying be a little unrealistic and shoot for the stars and go for a home run. And why not? You live once and why would you not want to go for something big? And a lot of people kind of, they self talk themselves out of that. They put the ceiling over their head. And we are our own worst enemy. There's no doubt. We say that in Built to Lead all the time. And you have to kind of overcome that and realize that all the obstacles, including yourself and that little voice inside your head, you know, it's, it's overcoming those that allows for the growth. You know, it's why, why when we talk about a comfort zone, we talk about stretching it and getting just on that out, just on that side of chaos where you're, you're not in complete chaos, but you're not so comfortable that you're just kind of skating through life. And if you're going to be different, you're not going to be skating because you're going to have people kind of coming out of the woodworks, especially if you're leading. And you can expect sabotage. You can expect the haters to, you know, not necessarily like seeing you do what you do, because the truth is you can make them feel bad about themselves because they know they should be doing it. You know, every, everyone's designed to grow. Everything in this world is growing. Look outside, look at companies, look at people, look at, you know, just a bit. Pretty much everything is designed to grow. And that's why people say if you're not growing, you're dying. And you know, I think the next worst thing next to dying is just being status quo and being idle and sitting still while everyone else is passing you up. And we see it today, with how technology is running so fast. We see it in companies when people are outgrown because they're not working on themselves. Happened in my company, you know, we had close to 100 people and only 20 people came to practice every. Every week. You know, it's just a hard thing to work on yourself and. And dig up some of the things that you don't want to deal with when you're looking in the mirror. But the problem is that if you're on a team and everyone's working hard and they're all growing and you're not, then they will. They will pass you up and they will find someone to replace you. And it's just how it works. So go after it. Be different. Be unique. Aim at becoming built to lead. Figure out what that means for you. Remember what the quote at the beginning of this book and the course about the master of the art of living and what the aim is, and make sure you have yours authored. Make sure that you're getting clarity on what your core is going to look like and make it different on purpose. Share that, get some feedback and embrace it.
