When I became a Build to Lead.
Builder, I remember Chet asked me why and why I wanted to do it.
I sold two companies and I certainly didn't have to jump on board with the band and join Built to Lead. I knew it would be something that I'd have to jump back in and get another coach because all the builders have coaches as well. And I knew it would be hard.
And so I was making an active choice in my life when I didn't have to, to choose more pain than, than pleasure.
And I don't know, for me, I'm not wired to just kind of sit.
Back and I have no desire to retire.
I want to do what I love.
To do and I want to keep learning. And I think there are two types.
Of people in this world.
The people who, who are winning and they take it easy. These are individuals who you'll see hit it big in business and then they're big amassing the cars, the houses and the watches. They become collectors and yeah, go rich, poor, because, you know, they put themselves.
In debt without even knowing it. They spend all their money and now they have to make more money to kind of COVID all the expenses of.
Now what they're buying.
And I think when you can turn.
All of your situations into experience.
Transformations because you learn from them. You take a situation, you know, how can you do it better next time? What can I learn from that situation?
You know, I think it's important that you learn as much when you're winning.
As you do when you're losing. It's a lot harder when you're losing.
But there's a lot to learn when you're winning because you tend to overlook it because you're winning.
We had many, many months where we had these record months at my company.
And we didn't realize it, but we were very soon breaking through these ceilings and going to hit new complexities that.
We didn't see coming.
And it was easy to get us into that lull of just high fiving.
All the time that things were going so good.
But boy, oh boy, once we broke through a ceiling and we realized like, oh my gosh, we're not in a position to be able to do what we need to do now with the.
Size that we've become, with the clients that we took on.
And it could be a really humbling.
Situation where you find yourself in a.
Place that you're not capable to do what you believe you're capable of doing that you've been able to do for so long. And now you can't.
And so while you're winning and having great months and you're making more money, make sure you don't get too comfortable. That's why you have to have people in your life that are challenging you.
And remember, when you're winning, you're not.
As good as you think you are.
And just as much as when you're losing, you're never as bad as you think you are.
