Day 86: Faith...

A short spoken reflection by Chad Silverstein exploring the concept of faith beyond organized religion. Silverstein encourages listeners to identify what they place their faith in—people, principles, karma, or other non-spiritual anchors—and contrasts faith with living in fear, framing faith as a choice that directs attention, energy, and emotional outcomes.

A lot of times when people hear faith, they immediately just get triggered to religion. And it's not, you can have faith in lots of things. So again, the question today is what do you have faith in? Where do you put your faith? And it doesn't have to be the religious route. It could be and for many people it is. And that's a very comforting thing for people who have a strong faith and they know why they believe what they believe. But you can have faith in people, you can have faith in principles, you can have faith in karma, you can have faith in, you know, lots of unknowns that hopefully can carry you through and overcome fear. And that's kind of the point of today is, you know, which are you leaning on more? Are you living your life in fear? Are you always constantly scared, constantly making things up and catastrophizing things and literally making things up so that you again, self fulfilling prophecy. You're scared of something and you actually think about it so much that you make it true versus leaning on something that you have faith in. A belief, a principle, a person, a thing, a concept, whatever it is, and really letting that overcome fear. It's a choice and it's just an awareness of where you're putting, you know, your power, your brain, your thoughts, your time, your energy. And that choice has consequences. So you have to really have some awareness. Again, this is emotional intelligence 101 of where you're going to study yourself when things happen and you experience life, whether it be situations or whether it becomes the result of scenarios that you go through on a day to day basis, or every once in a while. And then you let either fear run you down or you let faith kind of pick you up. So figure out what you have faith in, write that out and don't always make it religious. And if you do good, make that stronger. And also pick some things that are not spiritual based of what you have faith in. See if you have faith in anything other than religion. If religion has been your aim this whole time that you've thought about faith, challenge your own worldview. Whatever the result is, it's good.
