Day 96: Genius and dumbass...

Chad Silverstein explains a simple filter for stress: will this matter in a year? He contrasts daily noise with kairos moments like marriage or starting a business, arguing most worries deserve less of your attention and energy.

What stood out for me in this.
Day was the sentence about the noise. And I don't know why, but when.
I look at my day, when I.
Think about my month and I think.
About the things that I let get.
To me, it's incredible how much of.
It is just noise.
So here's one way you can score your in the moment situation and determine if something's worth even thinking about or.
Caring about or worrying about.
Just ask yourself, whatever's on your mind right now, one year from now, are.
You going to care about it?
And how much are you going to care about it? And many times you're going to realize that a lot of the things that.
You worry about, that you're thinking about, that consume you, that create some stress, something someone said, something someone did, a.
Certain situation with a client, a certain.
Obstacle that you're dealing with in your business, there are going to be things that you're not even going to not.
Only not think about, they're going to.
Be things that you don't even remember. And all you have to do to.
Prove this is think back to last year. Think back five years. What you remember are glimpses of things. The things you actually do remember are big moments.
Your kairos moments in life.
Whether you got married, you started a business, you moved, graduated.
Time you got.
A raise, when you got your new house, whatever those big moments in life are when you had a kid, those.
Are the moments you really remember.
But most of everything else is noise.
And high performers are able to kind of filter that out. They're able to kind of like, see.
It and then just push it away.
It's not that you're not dealing with it, you're not thinking about it, you're just not obsessing on it.
You're not, what we say, catastrophizing and just, you know, just regurgitating it over.
And over in your head.
And that has power over you. And that is completely within your control because it is a mindset. And so this day is genius.
Or dumbass.
That's funny, you know, and people who.
Are trying to control things that are uncontrollable, and you're thinking about things you have no control over, thinking about things you're not going to care about or not even remember. It's a good litmus test and it's a great discipline. If you're able to build it in.
Think about it, write it down.
What do you focus on in your life right now and how much of it is noise?
And make a decision of how much.
Time and effort, you're going to give.
Any more energy over to any of those things, and that can be life.
Changing, and it can happen like a flip of a switch.
