You have people quietly quitting and they're thinking about not telling you they're looking for another job for a reason. They're scared that you're just going to cut them loose. But when there's an open, vulnerable, transparent culture that allows people to grow and employers realize I'm not going to be able to keep people forever, why not get the best out of people while they're with you for 1 year, 2 years, 3 years? And if they can use your company, your team as a stepping stone, that says everything about your leadership. It's a good thing. And as hard as it might be, at least They're not going to do it on a dime where then you're stuck because you don't have anyone who's replacing that person. Maybe they'll give you time because they'll be transparent telling you up front, in 6 months I'm going to be looking for something, and it gives you that runway to find someone to replace them, and then they can help with the transition. That's the way great leaders will grow their team.
