How Building Habits That Lead to Massive Success

Chad Silverstein says success requires deciding what you're willing to do, not just wanting it. He points to early-morning routines, journaling, and daily reflection as habits that matter. Wanting something means nothing without the unglamorous work to back it up.

So I learned early on that it's really important to have just a sick discipline about who you are and what you do. And one of the disciplines that I got early on just in my routine, was to get up early. I love doing things when other people are still sleeping. And I have a routine that I follow and have followed for years, and it works really well for me. I'm able to learn in the morning. I'm able to do my journaling in the morning. I. I get ready to attack my day in the morning, and I'm doing it while people are still sleeping. And for me, that's always been just a good way to start my day. How you start the day, how you start anything, has a lot to do with how you're going to feel as you're going through whatever it is that you're doing. I love being able to stop and be by myself and work on myself and get clarity on things that I'm working on so that I can close some gas of things that I know I'm not doing really well. I think there's power in the pen and being able to write down what I did yesterday, who I talked to, what I would have done differently. There's power in that. And for people who don't do that and never take time to stop and pause and reflect and write, you kind of just go through this daily grind, and the next thing you know, you wake up and you realize, wow, time's gone really fast. Time does go really fast. And the fact is, is that if you want to live in the moment and be more present, you actually have to be. That means you have to stop and you have to focus on being in the presence. Because we're so caught up in thinking about everything that's always happened, and we're so focused and obsessed on what we want, where we want to go, and what we want to do that you don't realize you don't spend any time in the moment. And so when I hear other entrepreneurs talking about how they want to slow down and they want to be able to kind of be in the moment, and they want to practice their meditation, that's great. But you don't try to do that. You actually do it. People say it just depends on how bad you want. How bad you want something. Asking that question over and over in your brain, like, how bad do you really want whatever it is that you want? And I believe that's about half the battle. Because you could want something really bad and you could have best intentions. That means nothing unless you first determine what you're willing to do to go get it. And that's where most people fail, because they're not willing to do the hard work. They're not willing to be patient and put in time. They want things quick, they want things now. They want instant gratification. And that's just not how success works. You can watch these YouTube videos and you can hear people talking about their overnight success, but I guarantee you, they turn off that camera, that's not what you think. Everybody struggles with something and it's not easy for any. And because everyone struggles with something and because it's not easy, you gotta put in the hard work, you gotta put in the time. Now you have to work smart, but you gotta put in the time. So how bad you want something, that's an important thing to declare. What you're willing to do to get it, that's more important. So get clear on that and then go and go with all your heart.
