A short YouTube talk by Chad Silverstein explaining the 55/38/7 rule for communication: that listeners primarily perceive body language (55%), vocal tone/cadence (38%), and only 7% the actual words. The speaker emphasizes leaders should focus on nonverbal cues and tone because words matter least in face-to-face perception.

I'll never forget the leadership practice that I was in when my coach taught me the 55, 387 formula. This formula was from some dead guy in the 60s that did research on non verbal communication. And what he taught, what he realized was that when we speak, 55% of what people perceive is our body language. It's our micro messages that we send. So eye contact, our face expressions, it's everything that we what people see in our body, our mood, our gestures. 38% is what they hear. Our Talmud and our cadence. And you know, not necessarily what 7%, 7% is, which is the words that he use. And it's very down because what that means is that what you say doesn't really matter. It's what people see and it's what people hear, right? And how they hear it.
