Leaders Need to Be More Like Curious George.

Chad Silverstein argues leaders should ask more questions and listen harder. When someone gives you an answer, ask them to tell you more. Most people hide or misrepresent themselves until you dig deeper with genuine curiosity.

One of my favorite things to do.
As an entrepreneur is learn about people. Curious. And it's important that you're insatiably curious about people and about things that you're involved with.
And understand that we're complicated. Human beings are complicated. We have layers of complexities that sometimes.
Is so buried and suppressed that it's.
Hard to root it out. Most people are working so hard to not be themselves and be someone that.
They'Re not that they forget who they are. They forget why they think a certain way.
And so, like when I'm in an.
Interview, for example, and I have people who will just really quick respond to.
A question, I know that that response is not really a legitimate response, because all you have to do is ask.
Someone to tell you more, give me.
A few more good reasons why, and you'll see them sit back and think.
And just be dumbfounded because they don't know what to say.
They didn't think before they answered your question. And if you ever want to catch someone in a lie, this is a perfect sit situation for you. Because by asking you to tell you more if they lied and they weren't being 100% honest, they've got to then make up more stuff to cover up.
What they already said.
So build the discipline to learn more.
About people, to genuinely have this curiosity that you.
You really, truly want to understand.
Stephen Covey says that it's important that you seek to understand before you try to be understood.
And it's important.
And so being able to, like, tee into somebody when they're answering questions in.
An interview or you're getting to know.
Them, whether it's a client and trying.
To really get to the root of whatever it is that they want to accomplish. People care about themselves. People just want to be understood. And you just have to be a.
Good listener and ask great questions. People are so freaked out and they're scared.
They hate networking. They don't know what to say. They don't feel like they're good at talking to people. And you don't need to be. You just have to actually care enough.
To get to know someone and ask good questions. Let people talk about themselves and get in the habit and have a discipline to say, tell me more.
