My Magnum OPUS

Chad Silverstein is building an online leadership playbook called Build to Lead, collecting interviews with leaders and clients, then organizing them into short guides on topics like humility and performance. The platform would be continuously updated and offer affordable subscriptions for companies that can't afford full consulting.

Philsly does not have a playbook. And I want to build my own playbook, which is part of the four of the essentials is to for the CEO that you're working with to build their own playbook. So I took the idea of building my own leadership playbook for choice and I've blown it up magnum opus style. To be able to connect as many people to it as possible, have the longest driving impact I can have and not do it alone. So I'm trying to be built a lead and becoming built a lead. The synergy of bringing it together is kind of what most leadership programs don't have. We interview each other about what we've already done in the past and we can capture other builders, we can capture other build to lead clients, we can get team practices, insights, all kinds of great footage, which is where it all kind of sits in a hub of all this great learning and experience sharing. And then it gets broken out into pieces which become essentials. So that if we have a conversation and we're talking about humility, we cut that out. It goes into the humility essential as whatever we're talking about. And we can get those pieces from anything. Conversation, practice, blog post, everything becomes valuable because it's all leadership nuggets all packed into one place, which becomes an online playbook, which we have already have. But I can see that becoming such a big playbook that your clients would want, your builders would want people who are not build to lead clients would want your clients that can't afford to get you into their entire system or you don't have the time to go into their system would want it would be able to push build to lead out using real life experience in real time to all the people that we want to get it, that don't have access to it. I can definitely see that becoming a book because as we record all this stuff and we give it to someone who can transcribe it, we don't have to do anything. They're just taking what we're already saying and transcribing. It's a nice little distinct kind of differentiator that we have as a leadership platform that no one else has. Because most of the leadership platforms, they put their platform out and that's it. That's their platform. Good to great, that's their platform. What I'm talking about doing is keeping it sustaining as we grow together. Because we're not asking anyone to do anything we haven't done or aren't doing as we continue to learn. So becoming Built to lead is the beginning of it, but sustaining build to lead and you can just see how it can just keep unfolding as we keep growing things. Having an online playbook, taking what we're already doing, being able to connect it to all the people and teams and communities that we want, which serves higher purpose for all of us. And to be able to customize it to clients and to be able to bring Pete Kunk in here and interview him and get his and then put him in that. I just see it being a pretty big thing that I think people would pay for it if they're not a client. And I think if people are a client and they can't afford to have built Elite in their whole system, well then they could pay for the mineral fee to give access to everybody. In a real life example of someone who actually is doing it, it's much more powerful than some author just talking about it. I think we could stop doing things right now and we have enough in the past that we could actually just go have someone do it now. And I'm more excited about what we can do moving forward. Because picking topics are so easy and we just sit down and record it.
I don't think the content writing would be anything written so much. You know what I'm saying? I don't know that we. I mean, I'm not sure exactly what you mean by.
So for example, I'd say you and I would be interviewed on how I have raise performance in this office. How did we do that? Yeah. Well, I can walk you through what we did. I remember very clearly what we did. Well, once that recorded and we send that to a content writer, they don't have to interview us. They take the recording and they can transcribe it.
I gotcha.
And then we get an employee like Keisha. How does performance in raising the bar have effective you? And then we have an actual employee talking about it. It happened. It's not like we're talking about a scenario theory. So this actually happened and we have numbers that can back it up and you have other clients that have done the same thing. So it's not just about one client. It's about maybe focusing on a spotlight, but it's complementing it with not just one company because we know it works and we're proving it through actually using it. So instead of people just good degree kind of does that they'll give examples of full companies. But that guy doesn't necessarily work in all those companies. Yeah, right, you do. So you bring a distinct unique I'm actually doing it and have lived it and keep trying it and keep re. Expressing new expressions of it. And he's actually creating it and building it. And that's part of his unique ability to do. We're bringing it together.
Do you like this idea, Dan?
I like it. I'm still trying to understand it. There's a lot of parts to it I don't see. I'm having a hard time pulling it all together. It's okay. But I know that I trust that he knows it. So you hear the story about Disneyland opened after Walt Disney died?
Yeah.
And so there were two ride operators. They were talking to each other and one said the other, isn't it a shame that Walt Disney never got to see it? And he said the only reason it's here is because he saw it first. That's right.
It's a distinct, unique. Out of all the leadership stuff, because you have something like playbook that nobody has. It's a learning platform online, and he wants it my own way. And then the result of that, with all the other clients and all the other learning, and I could just see it, like, really. I could see it having a piece of that, you know?
Yeah, right.
I could see it being something given to other Ohio State students as a playbook. So I'm just connecting it with lots of mind maps that I've already created. And I don't even have that up here yet. But I think that's more of being able to do it with all the pieces of the puzzle of who we can connect it to. It's one idea. Streaming as on chat.
That's the four on steroids.
That's the Magmopus.
Yeah.
What's up, Bird?
Bird, you good?
No.
Why not?
These are twigs.
What happened to your arm?
I felt my butt.
Why are you talking like that?
I had no idea.
You good? Yeah.
Not herbs.
You good?
No, not herbs.
The golfer.
The golfer. Hello, Bird.
