Why Every Great Leader Has Vision and Wisdom

Chad Silverstein and a co-speaker argue that leaders need both vision and wisdom: the ability to see beyond the present moment, delay reactive responses, and anticipate consequences. They stress that current hardships are temporary and that foresight matters most for young people stepping into leadership.

Leaders have this ability to have vision over visibility. And it's a really important quality to have because what you see in front of you every day and what you get caught up reminiscing about what happened yesterday is important to recognize. But even more critical is the fact that you need to have a little bit of vision and be able to see past it, to know that what you're experiencing is to temporary. This is why you'll hear people talk about how if you get angry, you shouldn't say anything for 24 hours. You know, you know, you know you're supposed to wait before you say something to somebody because you're going to think differently. You're going to not want to have regrets that you walked into a situation because you just, you, you reacted so quickly. And to look at where you are in your life and understand that, you know, what may seem like a long time is really not a long time when you think about the bigger picture. You got to be able to have some vision and see out. You know, the true wisdom is being able to see the result of something before it even happens. And even though you can't guarantee yourself that result, you know you can if you're making a bad decision. Meaning that if you're about to make.
A decision and a choice that you.
Know is no good, and you know you can get caught or you're in trouble, or it's going to have a negative consequence, you know, recognizing that and.
Then changing your behavior so that you don't make that, so you don't have.
That result, that's wisdom. And this is important for young, young.
Kids, teenagers and kids out of college and out of college, like having vision to see that you know where you.
Are is temporary and that that's not where you're going to end up.
And to be able to see that the things that are happening and showing up in your life again are temporary.
That is a very important quality that.
You got to build into your way of being if you're a leader.
Because most people don't do it and most people tell you they can't do.
It, it's not their skill. And they may be right, but that.
Doesn'T mean you are off the hook.
And you shouldn't try.
So no matter what you're going through, suffering, pain, conflict at work, something tough.
With your kids, most likely it's temporary. Have some vision, see things out. And all you really need to do.
To make this more of a reality in your life is to look back.
At all the things that have happened in your life, all the hard stuff you've experienced and see how many of them were actually means to something good, you just couldn't see it in the moment.
