In this live Facebook video, Charlie Hugh‑Jones announces the publication of his new book, Unlocking a More Productive You. He thanks the flood of messages from early readers, shares a link for purchase, and explains that the book is not merely about time‑management but about getting more of what truly matters done. Drawing on his own experience as a high‑performing attorney who sacrificed family life for others’ agendas, Charlie reflects on the personal cost of neglecting character and relationships. He interrogates his own motives—whether seeking bestseller status is ego‑driven or a means to reach more people with a message that helps others navigate an always‑on, hyper‑connected world. He defines success for the book as helping even a single person improve a marriage, keep a job, or grow a business. Charlie then offers heartfelt shout‑outs to his wife Abby, his son Samuel, and several friends (Avelio, Isaac, Maria, Erin Adesso) who supported the project, before urging viewers to buy, share, and comment on the book.

Start my video. Wow! Good morning! Hello! It's Charlie Hugh-Jones here, and this is Elevenses with Charlie. It's Friday, it is the 1st of September, and I'm a little bit spaced out, to be honest. Um, I've been nervous and very excited for today because my book was published today, Unlocking a More Productive You. There's going to be a link below so you can go straight to Amazon and download a copy if it's of interest to you. But I just wanted to say thank you. I'm getting messages in the top right now, text messages from people who've downloaded it. I'm, as you can tell, well, I'm not as suavely dressed as normal. I've been sending emails this morning and I'm just overwhelmed. I'm very grateful for the response, um, to people buying a book about unlocking a more productive them. The book isn't just about time management. Well, that's a misnomer anyway. You'll find out about that in the book. It's not about just getting more things done. It's about getting more of what matters done. Because my story that I tell in the book is about being a high-performing attorney in a national law firm Getting acclaim, getting stuff done for other people's agendas, and not paying attention to what mattered most to me. The family life that I craved so much, the marriage that I ended up losing, and the kids that I really wanted to connect with. I have a fabulous relationship with them now. They've probably commented. You, you may have seen Samuel, my 18-year-old son, who is backpacking around Europe right now, even shared a link to of this book. He's proud of his dad, and I'm very grateful to him. Those are the things that matter. And in sending out an email to, I don't know how many thousand people this morning, a group email, I'd been challenged by something, a question I'd been asked by a friend and by a book that I read this morning, to ask myself the very real question Why did I want people's help getting a book on the bestseller list? And the question I had to address myself was, do I want to be a bestselling author? Is that my ego talking? Do I want to have bestselling status to achieve another realm of success? Was this just a vanity exercise for me? And yeah, it's cool maybe having someone give you a title. But the real thing that drives us— when I had to learn that character mattered more than my competence, my contribution to others, my service, that matters more than anything else. And I asked for people's help to get that book on the bestseller list so I can reach more people with a message that inspires and equips them to manage this crazy, always-on, hyper-connected world And all the stuff we're bombarded with, and the things that we have to do on our to-do list, and get to the things that matter most, rather than being swamped or overwhelmed. And that's what I want for people. And if I can help one person's marriage survive and even thrive, if I can help one person manage to keep their job and pay their mortgage, if I can help one passionate entrepreneur build a business that employs 20, 50, 100 people that pays their mortgages because they're now equipped with tools and they have techniques and strategies that I learned the hard way that I can now give away. That is my definition of success for this book. So if you want to help me achieve that for other people, I would really welcome that. Then please check the link below and buy the book. It's only 99 cents if you're in North America, it's 79p, I hope, if it's 99p. I'm sorry, everybody, um, in England. Please just buy it today. There'll be a link down below so you can check out the book and see why I've written it and the tools and strategies that I'm giving away. Um, I'm not going to say any more on this Facebook Live. I'm a bit discombobulated. It's a great word that my wife uses, um, and that helps me understand just how sort of out of it I am today. But I'm super excited. I'm still nervous. I'm really proud of the book, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have written it and share it. So many people have been involved. Thank you for that thumbs up. Other people who have impacted my world recently, Erin Adesso. What a phenomenal lady. We did a Facebook Live, check out a few months or two back, around how the success or the way we get to share now is only when we share our stories. We're only 1 or 2 steps ahead of the people we used to be. And if we can help people who are 1 or 2 steps behind us, then, then we're living our purpose. And that's great. People like, um, oh, there's so many people. Is this an Oscar speech? Ha! Who knows? Anyway, thank you for your time watching this, um, this live. I'm going to say bye for now. If anything I've said resonates— oh, forget it. I usually say check the links, do all that lot. Don't worry about it. Get the book, enjoy the book. Please leave a comment, share it with somebody else if you think it's gonna help them. That's it from me today. Bye for now. Bye.
