My Girlfriend Tried TikTok Shop for 30 Days (Honest Results)

In this 30‑day case study, creator Chase Fisher takes his girlfriend, a complete beginner with no online income, and teaches her the TikTok Shop affiliate model. He starts by buying her an existing TikTok Shop account, explains why follower counts are irrelevant, and walks through the early days of posting low‑performing, saturated products (high‑ticket items, supplements, beauty). By day 9 they pivot to a culturally trending product – soft‑toy “squishies” – after noticing a viral organic trend. The video strategy shifts to a systematic copy‑and‑recreate approach, producing top‑of‑funnel viral clips, short middle‑of‑funnel videos, and bottom‑of‑funnel sales pitches. Continuous testing and scaling of the winning product leads to rapid sales growth. By the end of the month the girlfriend earns $5,500 in profit commissions, $60,000 in gross merchandise value, hits TikTok’s Ruby affiliate tier, and records multiple $300+ profit days, all while working only a few hours per day. Fisher distills the experience into actionable lessons about product selection, trend exploitation, video replication, and the importance of data‑driven iteration, and encourages viewers to apply the same framework.

My girlfriend has never made a dollar online, but I make a living with a business model called TikTok Shop. But everyone says it only works because I got lucky. So I'm putting that to the test and I'm starting her from complete zero. No experience, no sales, and an account that is making her nothing. I have 30 days to prove anyone can do this. Either it works or I'm about to look really stupid on camera. Let's get into it. Starting with day 1, she's starting with complete zero and has no clue what she's doing. So I bought her her first account and we're making videos, but nothing is selling. Like, literally nothing is selling. And so this account had 20,000 followers on it these followers do not make you anything directly. And right now they are also not making her anything because followers on TikTok Shop do not mean that you are directly going to make more money in any way, shape, or form. So when you buy a TikTok Shop account or you grow one to get into the TikTok Shop affiliate program, everybody starts from scratch. Nobody has an advantage no matter how many followers you really have, because you don't get paid for followers or views. You only get paid when people buy something because you earn a commission. So even though we're posting videos, if we cannot start posting the right type of videos, we are not going to make any money. And so the real challenge doesn't even start until she starts posting better videos. But hey, at least we got an account. But the account is the easy part. The real question now is what she will actually post, because that is the thing that decides if any of this works. By day 4, she started posting the classic products every beginner in this niche reaches for, and none of them have been landing. We started with some high-ticket products like Ninja Creamy, which was great. We started with a supplement called Leafar, and even a couple beauty products here and there, the same ones that everybody runs. And with the Ninja Creamy and some eyelash serum, she started to make a couple sales. So So these products are now doing okay. We have Ninja Creamy, which is pretty good because it's a big brand with a newer product, and we were posting some bottom of funnel selling the sale type videos for it, and we got a sale, which is nice because it's a really expensive product. So every commission that we earn is worth more. But right now we are posting 5 to 10 to— sometimes she even posts 15 videos a day that are very simple, and she's getting some sales here and there, but nothing is really breaking through no matter how much she's posting. So for products like Lefar and most of these other beauty products, there's so many people that are also promoting these products. That your likelihood as a beginner of having some massive video blow up with one of these products is very low because there's so much competition. And so for almost all beginners, starting out with the same saturated products that everybody's using is one of the biggest reasons why success can take longer than it should. So nothing is landing yet, which means she needs to try something completely different. It is day 9 now, and there's something happening on TikTok— not even TikTok Shop, but the actual just TikTok organic algorithm— where every single person is talking about this one thing. And now I know everything is gonna change, because when something happens on the TikTok algorithm, the only logical thing to do is bring that over into TikTok Shop affiliate. Because if something works on TikTok organic, meaning it can go viral organically, that means it can do even better on TikTok Shop because brands run ads on TikTok Shop. So day 9, she switches to literal squishies. Everything is starting to turn around now because we found a product that people are naturally just buying. Women and children love squishies. They love them. Nidos, dumplings, all these different like little soft toys. Because right now culturally, these products are hot. Everybody is buying them. And so now the second she's starting to post these squishies, everything is starting to pop off. We have dumplings selling, we have Nidos selling, and now we are finally starting to print. And the truth is, there's not that much competition for a product that is this popular. Nobody wants to promote these things because they don't think that it is gonna sell. But number one rule for product selection on TikTok Shop is that you don't know what is gonna sell. The only way that you can figure out what is actually going to sell is by trying the product. If it sells, fantastic, you double down on it. But if it doesn't sell, you pull out and you stop doing it. But never don't test a product because you don't think that it's going to sell. Let the data tell you the truth. So even though this one doesn't look the most impressive on paper, this is the one that we posted and it just worked. And when you find something that works, you do not let that go. Now she has a product, but a product on its own is not enough. The next thing she has to figure out is how to actually get these videos in front of people. Day 16, she is starting to really scale this thing, making all styles videos for this product nonstop. Top of funnel videos that are going viral, middle of funnel videos that are just short and trendy and are like 8 seconds long, and also bottom of funnel videos selling the sale. And doing this over and over and over and over again. But remember, my girlfriend is still a beginner, and so I'm not gonna have her sit down and write a script from scratch and then try to produce that into a video and then edit it and just hope that when she posts it that it makes sales. What we're doing is just copying. We take videos that have worked on TikTok organic, meaning non-TikTok Shop affiliate videos, and other TikTok Shop affiliate videos and then just take them for ourselves and to recreate these videos. Because almost every single one of my big videos that I've had on TikTok Shop has been a copy. It has not been some concept that I have created from scratch, and some people would be ashamed of that. I feel no shame. On TikTok Shop, you do not have to be original. Even the biggest billion-dollar companies in the world still copy from their competitors. They find what's working and make it their own. And on TikTok Shop, if you do not do this, you're playing at a disadvantage. Because all of the top affiliates continue to copy each other and continue to make a ton of money from finding one concept and recreating what works. Do not let your ego that tells you you think you know what video is going to be the best prevent you from going and making money. So with my girlfriend, this is the exact process that we're having her follow, and it's fucking working. And that leaves the biggest question of them all: why is any of this working when it has nothing to do with her account or her editing at all? By day 24, she has already had multiple days earning hundreds of dollars a day in commission. She has now tested plenty of other products. And one lesson has become impossible to ignore, which is not the way that I thought this was going to go. InCulture beats everything else. Throughout this entire process, I have the framework of, hey, let's test big brands that are spending a lot of money on ads with products that do not have that much competition, and there's not that many creators that are making videos for these products. Because when a brand is spending a ton of money on ads because they're a large company and there's not much competition, it increases your likelihood of getting a ton of ad spend on your video and getting a lot of views and a lot of sales. And so we are still testing other products but nothing worked the same way that the squishies were trending. And we had an eyelash serum that started to do pretty good, but we've had squishy videos that already went viral. So even with our framework of big brands and new products, these squishies were coming from random sellers all over the place, not big brands. But it did not even matter, because when something is popping culturally, people actually care about it and work like nothing else. And funny enough, during this exact same stretch, we had 4 of our TikTok shop affiliate accounts that I own that are ran by one $25 an hour creator that I pay to make the videos. Hit over $1,000 in commission during this exact same stretch, which is proof that the actual trend is doing most of the work, and it's not just that the account got lucky. So a singular winning product can change everything. And after my girlfriend's first full month on TikTok Shop, she went from $0 a day and never having made a dollar online in her life to hitting multiple $300+ profit days. In her first full month, made $5,500 in pure profit commissions and $60,000 in GMV on TikTok Shop and hit Ruby level, all as a total beginner by going all in on one culturally trending product. And no matter what, for anybody that is starting TikTok Shop, this is exactly what I would tell them to do. Now, you don't know if you're gonna go out and find some culturally trending product, but what you can do is test so many different ones, because the more products that you test, the more opportunities that you have to find that one winner. Because not everybody has time to actually be a top TikTok shop affiliate and film, edit, and post everything yourself. The catch is you actually have to do it because productivity implies you work hard lol

If I could have just done this when I got started, I would have progressed way faster

This is literally how TikTok Shop works and it will not change unless there's a major algorithm
