A short YouTube interview in which Chris Collins and a guest discuss books that changed their lives, focusing on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The conversation touches on empathy gained from an LSD experience, the value of questions versus answers, and the guest's ambivalent conclusions about definitive answers.
This time on books that changed my life.
People pretend like when you become an adult, you know what you're doing and then you become an adult and you realize that no one knows what they're doing. When I was younger, I kind of went through this judgmental phase where I thought, not everyone's realizing this. And then I tripped on LSD and gained a lot more empathy for other people.
So take LSD and then read the book. What do you think is more important, the answer or the question?
We love to have answers because it makes us feel very comfortable, but we're just grabbing at what we think is maybe the best answer.
Do you ever come to a conclusion?
Yes, but no.
So no.
The answer is so unsatisfying.
Well said. So the big question how did the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy change your life?
