E.A. Hanks talks about a friend named Dave at the Harvard bookstore recommending Cloud Atlas. Hanks was starving for something to read and found Mitchell's nested narratives a high wire trapeze act, a stunning display of technical skill.
This is quite a book. So when I read this book for the first time, it felt like I was starving. And I was given this feast. I was hungry for a big bite. And so I said to my friend Dave, who worked at the Harvard bookstore, do you have a book recommendation for something really meaty? And he was like, I have the book for you. It's Cloud Atlas. And I read it and could not believe the high wire trapeze act that David Mitchell pulls off in this book.
