A short conversational transcript from a YouTube interview in which the speaker praises a photographer’s consistent commitment to making art (rather than purely commercial imagery) and links that influence to their own dissatisfaction with technical architectural work, expressing a desire for expressive, communicative practice over routine technical tasks.
Because he's one of the photographers. And that was like an inspiring thing to me, that no matter what the objective is for the photo always makes art. It's not like, yeah, just, you know, take a picture of the shoes, like in a studio. He always made art, every single photograph. And that's just so inspiring. Which in a sense is why you were bored with architecture. Yeah, right. Is you. You wanted to express something, you wanted to communicate something. Yeah, definitely. Versus just do the math. Definitely. Yeah. And put a window in a wall that wasn't there before. Yeah. And if I had wanted to be like an architect who designs stuff, it would have been a long road in school and to go that way if you're not falling in love with it. I don't know. I would have wanted to do something.
