Chris Collins and Johnny D'Esposito discuss The Alchemist and how facing fears shapes life decisions. Johnny shares his story of moving to Hollywood and what it taught him about pursuing what matters.
How do you tell your dad?
Funny, I didn't even put this together now. I think the universe kind of threw me a layup with that one. I had got an audition for an independent film out here in Hollywood. So I said, dad, I gotta audition in Hollywood. When I'm out there, I'm gonna start looking for jobs. And he said, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. And he's like, me. Me and mom will come with you. I ended up getting a call back on that audition, so they had to fly back. I go looking for apartments. I take out a money order. I put a down payment on an apartment. I say, look, I got good news and I got bad news. Bad news, I didn't book the role. Good news for me, not for you. I'm leaving. I put money down in an apartment. The universe tried to make it a little.
Very true to the book, right?
Yeah. Yeah.
The things that you fear, those things that you don't want to face, end up kind of sometimes just not being as big as you think.
