I'd kind of had this huge, very fast meteoric rise, as it were, as a very young man to the lead of a huge studio movie with the likes of De Niro and etc. And then within a year, I remember suddenly I blinked and a year had gone by and I'd stopped working. And I was really— it was shocking and very frightening. And I remember just thinking, Oh, I have to rethink this. This is not going to work out for me. It was really, it was really scary. And I, of course, have no qualifications, no idea what I'm going to do. So I go back to England, and, um, my, um, my, uh, agent suggested I'd go on stage for the first time. I initially said no, and my agent called me up and said, you're making the mistake. She was like, it doesn't matter how the play goes, it doesn't matter if it's good or bad. 'At the end of the play, you will feel like you're an actor in a way that you need to feel.' And I didn't really know what she meant, but I knew— Did it resonate? Yeah. I didn't know what she meant, but I knew she was right in a weird way, if that makes sense. Yeah. And she was right. And I did this play, and it was during the play that my father gave me a book.
