Finding Your Inner Self (Service Drive Revolution Drive By)

Chris Collins, Jeremy O'Neill, and Christian Lafferty name their inner selves based on a RZA passage about finding your true self. They discuss shedding a victim identity and taking active control of your life, each offering their own metaphor: Guide, Hunter, and Blender.

Everybody. And welcome to Service Drive Revolution. Your drive by a little something going into the weekend and make you think, maybe inspire some ideas. Say hello to Jeremy o' Neill and Christian Lafferty.
Hello, everybody.
Jeremy.
Hey.
Have you read this book?
No, I have not.
He didn't even see the book. And he said no because he doesn't read books.
Is that I judge a book by its cover. And I haven't read anything with the book.
It's called the Tao of Wu by rza. Wu Tang Clan. Have you heard of them?
Yes.
It's a great book. But there's something in there that I wanted to talk about today. Going into the weekend, I wanted to think about. I wanted to see what your thoughts were on this. So in here, he writes, forces in the world will tell you you're a victim of your family, your race, your past, your history. Don't believe them. They don't know you. Look inside and find your true self. It's there. Give it a name.
What name would you give your true self, Jeremy, if you looked inside and you found it? So I'm assuming you can look inside and find it. I was asking Russo because I felt like his true self should be named after the lion in Narnia.
Okay.
Which is what? Russo. What's that lion's name?
What was it called?
Aslan. So I thought he. If Russo could sit down for a minute, look inside of himself and find that thing, that's what he should name it. But what would you name yours?
So his name was Aslak. Was that correct?
No, that's what I felt like it was. He actually never came up with the name. Did you come up with Christian for yours?
Hunter.
Hunter. That's strong.
Wow.
I like it. Hunter.
I. You know, in searching my soul, I feel like mine should be Aflac, the Duck.
I like to help people.
Trying to have a serious show here.
Leave the joke to me.
You got any jokes, Christian?
I do.
So I was walking down the street the other day, and I saw two guys beating up a kid. I felt it was my responsibility to. To hop in because three on one, that kid didn't stand a chance.
Hold on.
I can't see you guys. Where are you at?
If you're listening to this, Jeremy just turned on his headlights.
Gosh. So they're adjustable, too. There we go.
Let me tell everybody what I think mine is. I think mine is Guide.
Oh, actually, I know it's died. Yeah, I call mine Guide.
I actually learned that from a doctor that I saw for a while.
Guide.
Specialize in therapy.
Is there like categories in this book that you could pick from or do you have to come up with?
Bro, it's written by RZA from the Wu Tang Clan. Come on, you got to make a little bit of a leap.
It's not Confucius.
Forces in the world will tell you you're a victim of your family, your race, your past, your history. I relate to that. I had a crazy childhood. You know, the, some of the, some of the examples I've had in my family and they tend to lean more towards being victims. Right. So some of the examples I've had weren't. Weren't the best. So forces in the world will tell you you're a victim of your family, your race, your past, your history. Don't believe them, Jeremy. They don't know you. Look inside and find your true self. It's there. Give it a name. So mine's been guide for a long time, but I thought that that was really kind of a cool thing to think about. Sit down for a couple minutes and like, think about it. But there's, there's a section of this new leadership training that we're working on for you that'll be in our on demand that I talk about. Kill your parents. And that's kind of exactly what it's about is it's not literally killing your parents, but it's killing all of the pre programmed ideas and prejudices and reasons why you can't be successful and metaphors that have been said that you have to get rid of. You have to kill that stuff and shed it before you can become, you know, a real leader.
Yeah, you have to shed the victim robe, right?
Yeah.
Yeah. There's a lot of stuff that goes into that.
I love that.
That makes a lot of sense for you. So my, my name is Blender.
Blender, yeah. I got a better one for you. Tequila Red Bull.
Tequila Red Bull. No, no, no. There's some serious to this too. I never had a lot of my clients refer to me as the Blender because one of the things, you know, and it's interesting because in our lives we, we've moved in and out of our A game. Right? Like there are times in your life where you're just crushing it. You're on, you're dominating, you're achieving. Everything's just flowing. And then there's other times where, you know, kind of chaotic. You got to put things together. So one of the things that I just love to help people with is, you know, living your dream. Living my dream. Right. So, you know, over Memorial Day weekend, I built a big jump at our house and I was literally afraid of it. It was like this, you know, 15 foot drop on the mountain bike. And I hit it and I felt great. And so those are the things that, when I was a kid that I always wanted to do. And I'm actually living my dream. You know, my shop, the training I do, everything that I do is the world that I created. So I like to challenge people. And when, you know, the simplest test for this is, how are you doing today? You're going to get a bull answer for most people, right? I'm doing great. I'm doing good. Living the dream. So the way they respond to that is key. And something changed in my life about eight years ago when I changed my response to that question from living the dream to. To living my dream. And when you say that you're living my dream and you personalize it, your subconscious freaks out because your subconscious brains go, you're an effing liar. I don't know if I can say that, but you know, it is.
If you're not living your dream, you just can't say the real F word. Cool.
So if you challenge yourself to that and you really constantly push yourself to, what do you want to be doing with your life? We have a finite time on this planet. In this life, what dreams have you given up on? What have you settled for? What sacrifices have you made to just live the status quo? Well, throw all that junk away and take the. Step out and go out and live your dream. So I live my dream every time I'm on my bike, every time I'm with my kids. The house that we have, everything that we're building around us is a culmination of the thoughts that I've had in the past. And what I'll have in my life in five years is a result of blending up things and piecing it together. So maybe it's time to throw your soul in the blender and hit chop. Blend it up and create something new if you're not happy. And if you're happy, keep going.
I love that. It's awesome. Do you. Do you have a joke to leave us with for the weekend? Yeah.
Speaking of the weekend. Right. So there's not much that can ruin a Friday unless you realize that it's Wednesday.
Well, everybody, it's not Wednesday, it's Friday. And we hope you have a great weekend. Thank you from Jeremy, Christian, and myself. And now we're going to show you a little preview of what's coming up Monday on the Big show on Service Drive Revolution.
Next week on Service Drive Revolution, we are going to talk about why service managers are the future owners, dealers and general managers.
Stop working for the man and actually become the man.
Their egos are tied to how many cars they sell. So I've been accused of being psychic, reading people's minds. What's, what's the weirdest thing you've seen recently in a, in a glove box? Jeremy?
I always go to handguns.
Big, huge bricks of weed. We don't want, we don't want to be adults on, on Apple. And then he goes into a story about how there were sex toys in a customer's car. All of a sudden, service is sexy.
That is not Covid approved.
