How Do You Define Leadership?

Chris Collins and Christian discuss what leadership really means: creating followership, getting people to choose to follow you. Collins shares his 17 laws of leadership, which he says aren't a magic pill but a comprehensive system.

Okay, let's talk about leadership.
So we just created. In. In our hiatus, we created new training for our on demand. And one of the trainings that we created is the 17 laws of leadership. 17 being my lucky number. Yeah. And 17 being the center of the roulette table.
Really? Yeah.
Even with the zeros and the double zeros, it's still the center, huh?
Yeah.
How about that?
Lucky 17. I've won a lot of money on 17 in Vegas.
Have you?
Yeah.
How many total laws did you have? Cause you pared that down to 17, didn't you? You had a. Like, you've been doing this for years.
Yeah.
You had a lot of possibilities, and you pared it down to the 17.
The thing that I realized, though, is 17 is a lot for people.
Taking the content. It's a lot.
Yeah. Even the stuff that you're recording, it's a lot. It's.
Yeah. It's robust. Yeah. It's maybe the best leadership training out there ever.
Maybe. Possibly. Probably. Most likely.
So what does leadership mean? That's my question, Christian. What does leadership mean? So, people, what. Dave Anderson would say that leadership is the difference between a manager and a leader, is vision. That's what he would say.
Yeah.
Right.
I think that's reasonable, not leadership.
What's leadership? What does it mean?
I think that leadership is the ability to get people around you to do things because they want to do them.
Yeah. It's getting people to follow you. Getting people to do what you want them to do. I think Chase Hughes says it's creating followership in others.
Yeah. That's a good term, isn't it?
Followership. Followership and others.
Yeah.
So that's leadership.
Now, part of it is vision. Right. But, yeah, followership. Getting other people to do stuff.
Yeah. In an inspirational way, too, like where they're passionate about.
About it.
I. There's. There's a lot that goes into your laws, but.
In a nutshell.
Yeah.
So how do you do that?
Do what?
Leadership.
Well, there's 17 laws. I told you.
I know.
You got to go through all 17. There isn't one.
If you do 14, can you.
There isn't a magic pill. They're in a. I did them in order of importance.
Yeah. Number one's my favorite, but I'm not gonna.
Yeah. So it's one's. One's a, you know, big one, and then two's a big one, and three and so on and so on. And then the last one, 17, kind of wraps it up. Lucky 17. But I. Literally, 17 is my lucky number 13 also, because that's my birthday, is my lucky number. But 17, if it's gambling and just an overall great number. I love 17, and this is no joke. 17 was my advisor number.
That's interesting. Mine was 5, 8, 2. I have no attachment to it.
Oh, you had 3.
It was a 3 number one.
So I was 17 and I was 32.
You had two twos, huh? A lot of people are 3 and.
4 and 17 and 32 are next to each other on the roulette wheel, which is weird too. So 5 is on one side and 32 is on the other.
Do you think it's weird that I know the roulette wheel? Like, I know I would say that.
You'Re quite intimate with the roulette wheel.
So you really want me to try to beat you at peloton?
I'm down for it. I think.
I think it'll make me better hooked up to the thing.
That's awesome.
