Frustrating you.
Making you take it out on someone else.
What.
Where does that come from? The secret dark side of Christian Lafferty. The one that makes you take it.
Out like that question.
The one that makes you violent.
The one that makes you yell at your dog when it didn't do anything wrong.
Okay, well, this question, this, this week is very, very violent and controversial. We. We. I personally, I didn't think we should take the question.
Well, I, I would say the origin you wanted to.
You say you have two answers for him.
The origin, of course, just play it is super violent. Let's go ahead.
Hi, this is Travis. I am running the parts department as parts manager of a Korean dealership here in Canada and I'm wondering what I can do to help drive production in the shop of our service department. Seen as the service department's success is my success. Thanks.
Told you. Canada's violent. They say sorry as they stab you.
I wonder what brand that could be Korean.
Oh, it's either. It's easy. Yeah, we know what brand it is or what one of two brands it is. But, but I like that thought and kind of brand specific. I wanted to give you a couple of opportunities specific to if it's the two brands that I'm thinking of. And then I've just kind of got a general one which would apply to any non. Well, whether you're a Korean brand or any other kind of brand. So my first thought is I'm having a lot of success with my Korean brand stores and they happen to have like an issue where a lot of those vehicles are getting engines replaced under warranty at a really, really high rate to the tune of like a trillion dollars or something like that.
But it takes more than a quick lube tech.
But it takes a little bit more than a quick lube tech. But I think when I think of those jobs, right, it's easy to say, oh, it's an engine that's great for parts. But I actually think the. It's a great opportunity because, you know, a lot of These engines have 60, 70, 80, 90, 100,000 miles on them and I would recommend doing a hose and belt accessory kit with those and offer that as a Customer pay option to a customer. So you beef up the parts sale a little bit, but it's also an opportunity for the customer to get that work done where if they were. If the engine was in the car, it's way more expensive. Right. But it's already out. Yes, it's already pulling it out. It's a really good opportunity for us to hit a little bit of revenue, get a. It's a great opportunity for the customer to kind of like, get their car back with, you know, great rubber parts plus a great engine. And then the. The second thing I was going to say, and this is not brand specific, this is more universal with parts departments, is that, like, you want to be a part of the fun that's going on in service. And I think that if you come out and you have whatever it is. Right. Like, the thing that kind of pops into my head for parts departments is opportunity to build some equity with service is like having little specialists and saying, hey, we're going to. You know, we're going to have a special this month on whatever it is, spoilers or accessories of some sort where you're offering an incentive to the service department if they're able to kind of get these accessories onto the cars. So I would pick something like that that's kind of inspired by the vogue tire thing. Right. You tell that story where it's like if you sell a set of wheels to a sale, a salesperson sells a set of wheels, they get 150 bucks, and all of a sudden, before you know it, you know, you got 10 cars lined up with $75,000 in wheels. And it's just because we made it fun. So the parts department shouldn't feel like there's any rules in terms of that kind of stuff. It's a really good way to move tire inventory, too. Like, if you've got a couple of sets of tires that are. That are getting close to being obsolete, you might want to run, like, a little tire special. And that could help to kind of bridge the gap. But those are the things that popped into my head.
Yeah. I would add one more. Help them hire techs. They probably need techs.
Yeah. So. So who best. Right. To be in contact with, like, maybe other departments or other. Other technicians directly, would be your wholesale driver, right?
Oh, yeah. Spiff the wholesale driver.
I would spiff the heck out of the wholesale driver. If they get the name of a technician that might just outside having a smoke break while you're. While you're delivering some parts, and they're like, Man, I can't believe this guy. I don't like my boss, all this stuff. Hey, just let me give you a card.
Violent and sneaky Christian.
The true me coming out.
Yeah, but helping them hire some, some.
I mean, I don't think there's a.
Korean brand that we go into that doesn't need three techs like right out of the gate.
And even if they don't think they do, they could use it.
Yeah. And those engines are backed up everywhere.
It's good.
Great.
That's a great answer. Cool. Well, good luck with that. You know, clearly.
On the parts hold side of things. We appreciate parts questions for sure. And we'll see you next time on service Drive Revolution.
