How To Motivate the Unmotivated | SDR #230

This YouTube episode (Service Drive Revolution #230) features hosts Chris Collins and Chris Joan discussing how to motivate unmotivated service advisors and technicians. They recap a recent virtual coaching meeting (noting it was the only virtual session that year), describe a wrestling-themed event featuring guest Kurt Angle (hosts dressed in wrestling attire), and highlight a speaker pair, Aaron and Lena, who shared athletic success stories. Tone is informal, anecdotal, and promotional of the coaching program.

Coming up today on this edition of Service Drive Revolution, we're going to talk about how to motivate the unmotivated. How do you motivate service advisors or techs that aren't motivated? We also are going to talk about the coaching, virtual coaching meeting we had. How I dressed up like Hulk Hogan but did not tear my shirt off.
Rob the world of an opportunity there.
I'm Chris Collins. This is Chris Joan. Hello, everyone. That and much, much more coming up on this edition of Service Drive Revol.
So we recently had our virtual coaching meeting. This is something we started during the pandemic.
Yeah.
That was the only virtual one we're doing this year. All the other ones are in person.
We're going live and in your face.
So this is where if you're in our coaching group or you're on. Are on demand.
You get to come to this event. It's three or four hours long. We have a bunch of speakers. The people on on demand won't be invited to the in person ones.
That's correct.
There's a coaching.
Yeah.
To come to the in person ones. At the in person ones, we have a separate event for the elite members usually the day before, which is super cool. We'll do something with them.
But.
So this was jam packed with guests and content. Right.
It was crazy how fast it went.
Now the theme, we, you and I came up with the theme. So because we had Kurt Angle and so I thought we should do wrestling for anybody watching this on YouTube. I wore a boa and a big Hulkamania T shirt that I cut up. I was going to rip the shirt off.
During it, but I decided that.
That would have been too theatrical.
No, I just. Sometimes people complain about the stuff we do because they think that we're supposed to be super professional. They want Joe Verdi in a suit.
You were so in character.
But I did bring the energy with the. I talked like Hulk. I watched a bunch of clips of him yelling, come on, brother. Bad stuff.
Listening to you before the. Before the call started was so great.
And then you had on a stone Cold Steve Austin 316 shirt. It's a brilliant. You did not cut the sleeves. You did not wear a boa. You did wear the wristbands. I got you like a sweat wristband.
Yeah, they were good.
Yeah. We looked the part.
We. If nothing else, we looked like tremendous fans.
And the Kurt Angle thing was. Was great. He. He's got an incredible story. I didn't know all that. That he came.
He had a lot of down before the up double.
Yeah, he had to double down.
He.
He. He has outperformed his hand of cards. So that was great. What was your favorite part of the whole event?
Yeah, the power couple for me, Aaron and Lena.
So that's interesting. Do you know how that came about?
Patricia said that she engaged Lena first.
The topic of the event was how to dominate your market. And so she. So Lena is a volleyball player from Bulgaria?
I think so. It was one of the Eastern European countries.
And she has an incredible story. Ended up coming here. Right. And so then what happened?
The fact that she didn't even play beach volleyball until, like, way later on in life and still got to a point where she did that. And then her husband is a football player with the, dare I say, Green Bay Packers.
That was funny. But let's come back to that for a second. The Green Bay Packers. So you were gonna say that we engaged Lena.
Yes.
And then she knew the theme was to dominate. And she goes, you know, my husband won a Super Bowl.
Never part of the conversation before.
Never part of the conversation before. My husband won the super bowl with the Green Bay Packers. And their whole theme that year was dominate. It's like what they said. It was their mantra. And send us a clip. And Reggie White is screaming, dominate. And the whole. The whole thing. So they end. She said, can he come on and we'll do our thing together?
And it was incredible.
It was magic. Like they'd done it a billion times, but they hadn't.
Yeah. And I. I have the feeling that we are going to see much, much more of Lena and Aaron.
Doing that together because they had a chemistry, and they're both bad. Like you. You don't think about how hard the volleyball thing is, but that's. You're physically throwing your body around. And then, of course, playing offensive line. He's an offensive line.
