Welcome to Service Drive Revolution. I'm Chris Collins, and this is your Friday drive by. Something to think about going into the weekend. I'd like to start off by reminding you that we have a Facebook group that's a lot of fun and a lot of stuff going on in there. So go to Facebook and go to my page, Chris Collins, and join our group, and I will see you there. Sometimes I'm posting videos in the morning and doing different stuff. So I want to talk about today, my favorite.
Leadership law for my 17 laws of leadership. And I want to tell you a little bit about how I came about making the 17 laws of leadership, which is going up right now on our on Demand platform. And I think some of the. Some of the best work I've ever done. So a couple years ago, a friend of mine who's young and kind of moving up in the company he worked for was asking me about leadership, and he said, you know, I have access to this portal, and I was watching this leadership training that he, you know, logged in and was showing me. And it's one of the TED Talk guys that, you know, everybody knows. I won't say his name, but he's done a bunch of TED Talks and he wrote some books, and some of those books are on leadership. And I'm watching his leadership training, and I'm just like, man, this is just such a waste of time. Like, it's clearly evident to me right away that this person has never really ran anything. He's read a lot of books and he understands things, theories of leadership, but it's not real leadership. It's not stuff that you can take and implement and get results. And as you know, here, this is very important to us, our training, everything we do is about you getting results and implementing and seeing changes, getting confidence, feeling better. And it, you know, it all just grows from there. In fact, we. We put out better content for free than most people are charging for behind their membership wall, just with the intent that you would know that what's behind the membership wall that you're paying for should be pretty special if the content we give away for free is as good as it is. So the video that I watched from this TED Talk guy was something to the effect of, you know, if somebody isn't performing, you don't go to them and threaten them with their job. What you want to do is sit them down and ask them about how things are going at home, and you want to show them a lot of empathy. And, I mean, it's just clear as day. This person's never managed a bunch of people and didn't understand anything about leadership. So I had that in my mind the whole time I was creating this leadership training. Like, if I wanted to really share with somebody moving up, like, what. What would I share with them? Like, what would I teach them about leadership that would help them be effective, help them be leaders and tell them the truth. Like, not the idealized version of leadership, but what. What's the truth? And so that's how I developed the 17 laws of leadership. I'm writing a book about leadership currently that is in the same vein. It's going to have a different title, but there's a lot of crossover in the content. But in the book, I'm going in a little bit different direction because it's more for general business and the general public where the 17 laws is very specific to our industry. And so check that out on our on demand. It's going up. If you're not on our on demand, certainly there's a ton of value there for you to sign up and would be a good idea. So go do that now, pause the video and go sign up for it. And my favorite law of all of them is the axiom of compromise. And the axiom of compromise basically is, you know.
Chart that on one side you have how committed and absolute you are, and on the bottom you have how much compromise you make. And, and the more compromise you make, the further away from your goals you get. And so compromise comes in many different fashions. Compromise comes in your effort, in your mindset. It comes in your openness to change and find new ways of doing things. It comes in collaborating with others. Like, if you aren't a good collaborator and you can't collaborate with other people, then there's going to be a compromise to your results. If you don't have boundaries and you let people just walk over you, or you don't get rid of people in your life that you should sooner than later, and you spend a lot of time, you know, wasted on people that don't care as much as you do, don't want to go where you want to go, it's a compromise. If you don't spend time learning and getting better, that's a compromise. If you don't spend time making friends that have the same values and have the same drive and mindset, or maybe friends that are a little bit more successful than you, that you can learn from and aspire to, that's a compromise. If you don't spend time recruiting new people constantly. That's a compromise. And so every degree of compromise gets you further away from your goals. So think about that. It's food for thought. The axiom of compromise.
It'S very true. And it is a law that if you understand it and use it correctly, can be very effective and help you be very successful. So have a great weekend and I will see you next time on Service Drive revolution. Next week on Service Drive revolution. Today we talk about is the future of our industry just tires and alignments?
