New Albums Added To The Library!

Chris Collins (Syndicate X Library) discusses recent vinyl additions to his collection, giving short, subjective reviews of pressings by the Twilight Singers, Beastie Boys (Ill Communication), INXS (Kick), Bob Marley (Exodus), Steely Dan (Asia), John Coltrane (A Love Supreme), and Bill Evans. He comments on sound quality (pressing vs streaming), emotional impact (notably a UHQR pressing of Bob Marley’s Exodus described by listeners as "community"), and listening equipment (Wilson speakers) used for evaluation. He invites viewers to share recent additions to their libraries.
Welcome to the Syndicate X Library where we love books. We also love vinyl and show you one vinyl that made everybody in here stop in their tracks when I put it on. And I'm going to tell you the one word that they all kind of came up with to describe it.
First one that I have, this is. This is just kind of a love of mine which is the Twilight Singers. She loves you. I will say that this record is very limited and hard to get. Does not sound that great. The streaming sounds better. Like you hear all kinds of production issues with this. I'm not sure what happened but it's. You know, I love the Twilight singers. This one is one that I've wanted for a long time. So I always stream this. The Girl from North county is a song that I will use to test a hi Fi system or test any changes in my systems that I will do that harmonica part. Like if the harmonica part on that song doesn't kind of like almost like make you go ow. Then it's. Then there's something missing. I've always wanted it on vinyl and this did not disappoint. The other kind of thing about it is Blowing in the Wind is incredible on here. That song. I mean all the songs are great but that one seems more relevant today with politics and what is going on. New Beastie Boys Ill Communication it sounds incredible. For me being a Beastie Boys fan and listening to this album a lot when I was younger, the way that this is pressed is like experiencing it again for the first time. It is so good. They are so good. Next one is INXS Kick I liked in excess when I was younger. I haven't listened to them in a long time. So at home I have Wilson speakers. On the Wilson Speakers you can really tell the production of this album. You have a respect for the rhythm section, the bass and the drums in the guitar. The one thing about Michael Hutchins that I never quite connected and how much he is mimicking Jagger in a lot of what he does. It sounds very Jagger esque. It's a great pressing. Some of the songs sound incredible. That happen on this. It's that good of a pressing. My favorite song on here probably is Devil Inside. It just sounds amazing. Before this, my favorite song was Never Tear Us Apart. Doesn't quite play off on this as good as it does just stream. Just because the song probably sounds better with less detail. Here's the album that blew everybody away. So I listened to this at home. I put it on and my fiance was like, oh, that's that's different. So then I brought it in here to the office and I. I told everybody, said, hey, I'm going to put this on. You should listen to it. It's. It's pretty great. And then that thing that I described happened where everybody was in the album and nobody was aware of the room or anything else that was going on. I think at one point I looked. Everybody had their eyes closed. They were just kind of taking it in. And that is Bob Marley Exodus. This pressing of this album is something.
Very, very special. It really transcends music in a. In a lot of ways. So what would be. What would be the word you guys would use to describe it? Jamming, engulfing. So you know what they. You know what they said in there. Community. Because this album has a story behind it about how he kind of had to leave because of what was going on there. And that's what the album is about, is Jamaica and leaving and that kind of tension between the two. I don't even know how to put into words how great this pressing of this is. I know everybody does their albums a little bit different, but these uhqs, I just kind of keep them the way that they are. But it's so great. I have the other Bob Marley pressing that they did. I haven't even listened to it because I've just listened to this one so much. So I didn't include it in this group, really, because I'm such a fan of UHQR and what they do. I bought this Steely Dan Asia record. I've streamed it. I'm not a huge fan of this type of music, which I don't know if you would describe it is progressive yacht rock. I'm not sure I'm going to experience this and I'm going to make myself listen to it three or four times to try to understand why it is so appreciated and where it sits in history. So I have it. I haven't done that yet, but I will. Coltrane. Love supreme speaks for itself. It's great. I have another pressing of this which I will now not need because that's so good. This the Bill Evans same thing. I have a really good pressing of this, but it's not as good as this. Uhqr. The bass on this is just nuts. It's just a clinic for bass. It sounds so good on either system that I have. It's. It's something to. To really experience. I have the other Bill Evans, which is Waltz for Debbie. Haven't thrown that on yet because I've really just kind of been listening to Sundays at the Village Vanguard. Let me know what you've added to your library recently and what you're loving. I will check it out and order it if it sounds good or if you're very passionate about it. And I will see you next time. Here, from the Syndicate X Library.
