Page 26. Okay.
Oh. Oh. I love visual analogies. Oh, my gosh. Oh.
Did you actually do this?
I did, and it was so uncomfortable. But it's so, so.
Page 26, chapter three, called Mirror. This one I'm a little scared to share. People will think I've lost it, but it's powerful. Set a timer for five minutes. Stand in front of a mirror, nose a few inches away. Breathe. Lock into your eyes. It sometimes helps to focus on one. If so, try the left eye. Breathe slowly, naturally, until you develop a rhythm. Look into your eyes and say, I love myself. Whether you believe it in that moment or not isn't important. What's important is you saying it to yourself. Looking into your eyes, where there is no escape from the truth. And. And ultimately, the truth is loving yourself initially. When you first did this, was it comfortable? Was it uncomfortable?
So uncomfortable. Because first of all, I'm just like, oh, my left eyelash isn't looking as great today. You know, I'm just, like, picking My smile lines are creasing right now. Like, oh, my gosh. And then I'm like, shut up and just look at yourself. And I'm going to go to page 27. When he says, if anyone ever looked into your eyes, knowing that you loved them, this is what they saw. Give yourself that same gift. And my husband all the time, like, he says, if you could only see yourself how I see you. And I was always like, but it really is so true. And it's just like, if I could give myself that amount of love of, like, how I look at my husband and love him, every ounce of him, my life would change. And this is so uncomfortable to, like, look at myself, especially being a dancer where all I want to do is pick myself, yourself apart. This is such a hard concept, but I love it. I love.
Are you able to shut off everything else but just looking in your eyes? Like, your eyes are kind of the window to the soul?
I think that's why he does five minutes is because you have to, like, talk yourself into it. It takes a second to be, like, comfortable with this.
Okay, pretend I'm not here. Let me see the process.
For me, I have, because my own brain is the worst. I have to say it in my head first a couple of times before I can actually verbalize it. Yeah. I have to connect mentally. So.
I love myself. And again, I don't fully believe it right now.
I don't.
But I know that the more this becomes a habit, I will genuinely look at myself and love myself. Obviously, I'M never going to fully be content with certain things. But I just think the intention and my mindset is positivity is love is acceptance.
Is worth. I think self worth and self love are always attached obviously. But I really think like when I get to that point I feel my worth and all that I have to offer.
I don't know why that one is like made me want to cry just barely. Oh my gosh.
Yeah. Why does, why does it.
It's just such a simple concept. But I feel like that's the hardest.
Part of this for sure.
Right?
No, this is. There's nowhere to hide.
Yeah, no, but like if you can just get beyond that and just like commit to that. How beautiful is life?
You know what I think when I look in my eyes is I'm super intense. My eyes are intense.
I get that too. I have really big eyes and like I. Sometimes it's a bit too much for people but just cuz I'm expressive. But. Yeah, you're intense. But I love that. I love intense people. Passionate people.
Yeah, for sure. Any more thoughts on the mirror exercise?
Just for others, I think just in my experience because the mirror has always been a negative thing, especially for me. Being able to look in the mirror and have it a positive thing is such a triumph for me.
I find it educational, I guess in the sense of how females experience the mirror different than guys. I'm like just hoping that there isn't food in my beard. Like the bar is so low and you're like, you're beautiful and you're like picking out all these things. Like it's such a different experience. Like I'm just trying to look presentable.
Such a different experience.
